I used to live in San Francisco, and I loved coming here with guests for a weekend trip. The Aquarium is a national treasure, and the coastline (and seals) is just beautiful. Lots of lovely restaurants, too.

Barbara, Clint Eastwood was mayor of Carmel, which is just south of Monterey. Monterey is about 2 hours south of San Francisco. (a bit over 100 miles)
