With all eyes on Gustav, and the advant of the storm making landfall, sometime tomorrow, in New Orleans, I have pondered another question. Will this storm, affect the price of gas? Or should I say, will they use this as an excuse to jack up the prices, (as I predict they will) on gas at the pump?

I had predicted, when gas started going down, that on Labor Day week-end, the next holiday that was approaching, we would see those prices jump up, and not by a mere penny or two at that. Well I don't know about your area, but here it went up roughly .23 cents a gallon over nite. Thursday evening, it was 3.46. By Friday morning it was $3.69 a gal. No big deal of course when you consider many are still of the mindset that anything under $4.00 a gal is a deal. Not that I am one of them, who considers this a deal, but it seems some do.

So whats your take on this? Do you believe gas will  begin to soar again, with the storm being the reason? And what is the price of gas in your general area right now?

I'm not sure if it will cause me to have more gas. I'll watch the Weather Channel and try not to eat White Castles.

I think they will used this storm as an excuse to raise gas prices.

They've already jacked up gas prices in anticipation of Gustav causing damage and for having to close the offshore rigs. Nothing has even happened yet and they starting raising the price. I'm sure if no damage is realized because of the storm, they sure won't drop the price extra low to make up for the money they gouged out of consumers...just in case. It's also predicted the winter will be colder than usual across about three quarters of the nation, meaning people will be using more gas to heat with, too...another chance for the oil companies to push the price higher on top of the extra money people will be paying due to the cold. The last I noticed, gas here was down to about $3.50 a gallon, but that was this past Wednesday. I'm so glad I don't have a car and my heat is included in my rent. No way would I be able to drive or stay warm with the prices like they are, even after they started coming down before they headed back up.

Amazing how gas prices can go up and down in such a short period of time. Like they can control the prices on a whim. Makes me wonder.

It depends on how bad this storm ravages New Orleans. It went up drastically over night 3 years ago and the gas prices never came down since then.

It was $3.51 when I took my boyfriend to work earlier, it was $3.56 by the time I had gotten back to the same station 30 minutes later. I hate holiday weekends, I hardly ever get them off, so it's just another day for me. Plus gas skyrockets since we are right off the exit and on the way to the beach.(Pretty much everyone north of Richmond, Va has to pass our exit to get to either Va. Beach or the Outer Banks).

I"m waiting for the day they change the price while you pump. It nearly h appened to me a few months back. I was pumping gas and a guy was bringing out a ladder to change the price on the sign. I was like no dam way! The pumps reflected the change shortly after I pumped, because someone I knew went to that same station, and told me what they paid which was a few cents more.
