Not an African American, but an American

Barack Obama has repeatedly stated that he is an American not the African American people want him to be. In his recent speech he explained his multiracial background. His father is an African from Kenya and his mother was an American from Kansas. So people need to keep in mind that he is not just a black man, but a white man as well. The dna structure in African Americans is stronger than it is in white Americans, which is why Obama is more brown-skinned than light-skinned.

If African Americans are only supporters of Barack because of his skin complexion, they are in for a rude awakening. He is not focused on one nationality, one class group nor is he focused on one gender. Obama wants America to believe in his promise for change, not because he's part African American, but because he can deliver the antedote America needs to heal!

you know the media seems to be the one running with this color and gender thing. when i hear people talk. i just hear them saying the want the country to be a beter place and whoever can get the job done is who they want as a president.

Race is no more a reason to vote for someone than it a reason to vote against that person. Sen. Obama will get my vote not for what he is, but for what he says, and what he represents. He would get my vote whatever his background, although I do not dismiss background, as our personal histories hellp to make us what we are, but we are more than the sum of our parts, and it is that morethatinterests me most

I have to agree with your post....I think Obama is a great Man, and i hope that in Nov. that he will run our country and we should all be proud. We should all be as one and not separate and I think we will all be in history...God Bless America....

Hi Tamara ~ I think everyone knows (or should know) what OBAMA's racial background is. I think if everyone on this planet suddenly changed skin color to lime green or purple, people would still find something to to complain about. . . .

As a mother of bi-racial sons, I am confused each time I hear Barack Obama refered to as an African-American or black man. It's as if his mother did not exist. He is truly an African and American man as his parents were each both. I'm an African-American woman and my husband is white. If you ask my boys their race they reply innocently "we're both."

i like the way you raise your children Vonda! my sister was in an relationship with a white man and I was the relative who supported her. I also have two sons whom I teach not to pass on the negative pattern of racism. As for Andrea no human being should be assciated with the color of a crayon. As an African American we are told that in history our ancestors came from Africa, but since we were born in America that's why we are called African Americans. The proper title for white Americans is Caucasions or Europeans so either way black or African American it all means the same!

i don't get caught up in color i call myself black but when I write i use the proper titles for each race. It's nothing personal! my grandmother raised me with different values and yes i believe in the bible. people grow up saying what they are introduced to some blacks call themselves black and some call themselves African Americans. If you ask me I am an American with color!

I never understand why race matters anyway. I think the racists have seriously flawed logic and ignore the fact that Barack Obama's mother was caucasian. Another hate group i don't get are the ones that profess to be christian but hate jews. Um hello, Jesus wasnt a christian he was a Jew! Anyway, just random thoughts there, but I completely agree with you in this matter. To deny his caucasian side, would be to deny his mother, and who wants to deny their mother?

Let's see. He father was African and mother white american. That makes him an african american. But then, if my daddy ran off after knocking my mom up I probably wouldn't want to claim it either.

The term African American should be dropped all together because the appropriate term is black American and white American
