Loved it LeeAnn. It made me start thinking about that subject. From about 4 yrs old until we die, the cycle never ceases to stir something in us. I've watched it for decades now, and your poem still stirred melancholy in me.
Thank you all so much for such nice comments. Robert, I had the African veld in mind when I wrote that. Your snippet was powerful. The Amazon is a spectacular place which is sadly disappearing faster than it can regrow. There is so much to be lost in the Amazon. There are species of plants,insects and animals that are still being discovered. There are many plants that have medicinal properties and help man. Man has no idea what he is destroying and the value it holds.
