JOHN MCCAIN IS UNDER INCREASING PRESSURE
There are many who feel that John McCain's choice of Sarah Palin was brilliant. Many others believe that the choice was a Hail Mary (or Hail Sarah) a sign of extreme desperation. Whatever.
Unlike the reaction to Biden - reasonably favorable, the Palin choice is not exactly a pure winner. Obama and Biden have apparently decided to do very little about it except compliment her meteroic assent but qualified a bit with her non existent foreign policy experience. Except, in all fairness I did see pictures of her in Iraq sitting at a dining table appearing obviously seductive with the assemblage of troops around her. This was probably good for troop morale.
If the Democrats continue to yawn at her I would imagine this will increase the pressure on McCain. This is so becasue I would imagine him (and Carl Rove and company) would expect Obama and Biden to take the bait and attack her for her questionable experience to equip her to be a heart beat from the Presidency if elected.
Then there is the news report that Cincy McCain is starting to fray. Note the following:
August 30, 2008 2:07 PM
ABC News' George Stephanopoulos reports: Democrats' attacks on her family's wealth are unfair and offensive, Cindy McCain said today in an interview airing tomorrow on "This Week with George Stephanopoulos."
So I googled the following key words: John McCain's temper and lo and behold I found the following story which I have to partially censor as it is too highly charged to state word for word. But if it is 50 percent accurate I think at least some of the Christen Right admirerers of John McCain are going to have a lot of scratches on their heads and perhaps purchase a lot of Tums after they get wind of the following:
But a new book on the presumptive Republican nominee will air perhaps the most shocking angry exchange to date.
The Real McCain by Cliff Schecter, which will arrive in bookstores next month, reports an angry exchange between McCain and his wife that happened in full view of aides and reporters during a 1992 campaign stop. An advance copy of the book was obtained by RAW STORY.
Three reporters from Arizona, on the condition of anonymity, also let me in on another incident involving McCain's intemperateness. In his 1992 Senate bid, McCain was joined on the campaign trail by his wife, Cindy, as well as campaign aide Doug Cole and consultant Wes Gullett. At one point, Cindy playfully twirled McCain's hair and said, "You're getting a little thin up there." McCain's face reddened, and he responded, "At least I don't plaster on the makeup like a trollop, you c..t." McCain's excuse was that it had been a long day. If elected president of the United States, McCain would have many long days.
The man who was known as "McNasty" in high school has erupted in foul...."
Now I appreciate the fact that people under pressure - even lofty heros who either run for President or actually have been the President including Roosevelt, Truman, JFK, LBJ, and even our admirable 'leader'Â have been known to release an expletive or two every so often.
But when leaders or anyone else act as if they are ethical, and religious 'saints' and pretend they are super moral then it is all well and good that their real nature be exposed.
It is in this context of growing pressure that I predict that sooner than later John McCain is quite likely to express his note worthy temper for all the world to see. Then at least we all will be playing on a level ball field. At least I won't be able to say I find McCain boring anymore when he erupts.
Any one wish to buy a blindfold and a pair of earplugs?
