This summer, my sister-in-law, Becky D, came to visit from California. While she was here, we spent a lazy few days on Lake Pepin, a large lake that is part of the Mississippi River in southern Minnesota.

This is Becky D and my husband in front of the Frog and Bear B&B in Lake City, Minnesota.

Our rooms were lovely, and had many nice little touches.
The freshly baked popovers we had for breakfast were served with almond butter and strawberry jam.

Both mornings, our breakfasts were a three course feast!

There was a beautiful church in the same block as the B&B.

The sky was amazingly blue.

Lake City was full of wonderful old houses.

And some cute, little ones, too.
We drove around the town and took some fun photos just for Gather.

Then, we went to check out the Marina.

We had fun walking along the pier and watching the ducks...
The water was like glass.

This is Becky D - we love her dearly and hope she will come and visit again soon!

We liked the name of this boat!

We looked out at this paddle boat and watched the sun set as we ate our dinner.

We found a beautiful greenhouse right at the water's edge...

And a Dairy Queen, too!

The next morning, we were off to drive around Lake Pepin.

Our first stop was the Anderson House Hotel, in Wabasha, MN, which is famous for its live-in cats.

Becky and our niece, Rachel, like cats, so I knew Becky would enjoy seeing Anderson House!

We found all kinds of quirky places to poke around in along the river.

After a leisurely drive around Lake Pepin, we ended up in Red Wing, MN.

The old train depot was a fun spot.

We saw the old kiln where Red Wing Pottery was fired.

My favorite house in Red Wing is octagon-shaped! It used to be a B&B, and I was lucky enough to spend the night!

We watched a barge being loaded for its trip down the Mississippi River to New Orleans.

And... poked around the few shops that were still open.

And that's how we spent one lazy day along the Mississippi River this summer.

The perfect way to spend a lazy afternoon.
i'm glad you had this opportunity to be with your sister-in-law... Blessings always...
I especially love the Miss River (I'm from Baton Rouge!), so it was great to see it in its northern environs!
the park looked like my town...the food made me hungry and I just ate!
