The next couple of miles, we were just enjoying the beautiful scenery along the Apalachian Trail. We came to a gap where we were able to see the village at the bottom of the mountains.

Another shot:
Just before we got back to the Amphitheater, I noticed some baby trees that seemed to have been planted recently. It was not very clear in the picture, but each baby tree had a wired fence around it for protection. I hope they will grow up big and tall!

As I mentioned earlier, Saturday morning we got out of bed at 9:30 AM, attended a "Live Birds of Prey" ranger program at 10 AM, and went hiking around 11 AM after the program ended. We finally came back to the Amphitheater at the Big Meadows where we started out, and it was already 2 PM.

We hadn't really had anything to eat all day, other than a few snack bars. So we headed back to the Lewis Mountain cabin for a late lunch. I took a snap shot of the beautiful sky on the way back from the car window.

The lunch menu was couscous. I cooked it in beef broth, with eggs and seaweeds. After lunch, my husband roasted a few more marshmallows for dessert. We packed up all the stuff and went back into the cabin to take a break. We were so out of shape! The plan was to go hiking on another trail in the afternoon, but we mutually decided to just chill out. I thought it was a waste to come here and not hike all day, but I could really use some relaxing time.
We headed out to the Big Meadows again around 7:30 PM, when the sun was coming down. Unfortunately we left the cabin too late, and missed the sunset. I still admired the beautiful colors of the sky, though. It is a bummer that the photos did not come out the way it looked through my eyes. The colors were much brighter and more vibrant.

To be continued...
