Looking for someplace to spend the weekend or maybe just a day trip? Here's a nifty search tool I found in my email.

Simply plug in your starting place:

Click on the amount of gas you want to use for your trip, then search and you'll find some interesting attractions in your own state and others nearby. Give it a try. The site is free to use!

I started my trip at Birmingham, Alabama and this is a partial list of places I can go to on a full tank of gas:

Since I'm up here in TN, I could come down there to Birmingham. Haven't been there since the 70's and actually in the 60's I had two of my children at St. Vincent's in Birmingham. My, my, time to get back and visit--and on one tank of gas.

We just returned from visiting our daughters in Florence, KY. The trip was only 91 miles but that is about as far as we can afford to go. I'm going to check out this web site. It looks very interesting and helpful. I wonder what price they figured their estimates on.

Jan, thank you for posting this site. We are living very frugally this year. Weekend excursions are about as close to a vacation that we can get this year. We did manage to go to the beach for 2 days this summer. It was pricey but worth the money for 2 days, but worth every penny.
