In a race that should see Barack Obama square dancing all over John McCain his recent selection of Joe Biden for VP fell flat. No "bump" to be had. Nothing, notta. Only some gasps from supporters and hearty laughs from distracters. But basically, Biden doesn't put any lift under Obama's wings. It's Washington politics as usual.
Now it's Senator McCain's turn to announce his VP. And while most people agree that the position of VP is mostly one of kissing babies, attending parties and polishing the president's shoes, still .. WE WANT TO BE IMPRESSED. We want to know that the man (or woman) chosen for the spot is what we feel is the "right" person for such a "demanding" job.
Obama blew it. Now, let's hope that McCain takes his VP choice serious.
