Back to School

I just walked my 2 older children to the door today and stood on the porch and watched them walk to the bus stop.  My daughter is going in to 7th grade, and it is my son's first day of Junior High as he is going in to the 6th grade.

I really hate that they put 6th graders in Junior High, but the school promises that they are seperated from the older kids.  My daughter did fine there last year. 

I got through it with out crying, but my eyes did get a bit misty.  They both looked so grown up but still so young all at once. 

Next week my little guy goes to preschool for the first time and so I will begin another phase of my life as another will end.  It seems the stages of my life at this time revolve around the stages of my children's lives.

I know what you mean, one is 26 talking marriage, the other just started college, and the baby 10th grade
it went to fast, too fast, I did the fatal mistake and blinked and they are all young men,

My older son is in the 2nd grade this year, and they switch classes, like in Junior high!
My younger son is in pre-school, so I know he'll have fun!

My "baby" will begin her senior year next week. She is the youngest of five so I have been through the cycle many times.

It is a pain in the butt when they put the 6th graders with the older kids... trying to keep up with them is sort of like herding cats.

Originally, I planned to drive my eldest daughter and a UHaul full of her furniture and belongings to grad school on the other side of the state myself, just my daughter and me. But two days before we were scheduled to leave, my husband took me aside and said, "Remember the first day of kindergarten?" He was referring to the fact that all of our children did fine on the first day of school but I walked out to the car and sobbed each time. He came with us to deposit the eldest at grad school. It doesn't change; they're always going to be your children.

Aw, hugs for you. I know exactly what you mean. My youngest is getting ready to start preschool and my oldest is starting college this year. Boy, they grow up so fast.

Our school district separates kids 1-4 elementary 5-6 lower middle 7-8 upper middle then 9-12 high school. Next year will be a big year for us as Drake will start lower middle

I do not have any children yet, but I can imagine how difficult it must be to watch them go off to school. I know that it was difficult for me to go... I wanted to stay homeeee. =-( But now I don't have to worry about that anymore. Been quite some time since I had to go to school.

I think sending my youngest son to Kindergarten was the hardest. With both of them in school, it felt like they were already growing up and away from me. I wish I could have homeschooled, but my schedule is so irregular.
