Has anyone else found and tried the new Geo tag feature?????

I just found the geo tag feature when I was posting a photo of a kitty napping. I chose Phoenix Az as the location since I live in the general area and it took it right down to the street level picture in the heart of downtown Phoenix. Wow!

How do you feel about this new feature? It some cases it would be fun to use, but I don't really want to show the whole world exactly where I live and how to get there with mapquest. Kind of scary...........

I guess it could be fun to use for pictures that were taken out driving around.

If you click on my sleeping cat picture it will show you my geo tag.

It's a worthless feature that I have no use for. I have enough on my plate now as it is.

I think that it will have some use for about 5% of the images published on Gather (or less). Therefore, 95% of the images published will need to contend with the extra space and scrolling required to avoid it.

I think the feature should be initially minimized or collapsed, instead of using up the significant page 'real estate' that it does now.

i agree with kevin its a waste to have to scroll past the stupid thing while uploading at first i though it would be neat until i tried it

I agree, I think it is too big and should be over to the other side. Hopefully it is bringing us in big bucks from the sponsor to spread around to us Gather members.

I have no opinion on it yet, although from what little I've seen I like Kevin's suggestion of having it initially minimized or collapsed. I can't think of any real use I'd have for it myself, unless I were posting something about a public place and wanted to show everyone's location. In general though............not related specifically to Gather.........I think Mapquest is great!

I doubt that I will have any reason to use it. That isn't a feature that you want to use on photos taken at or near your home or those of friends or family-- only those of major landmarks and public spaces.
