I'm having difficulty suppressing the urge to vomit; the ginger pills have expired. This is nothing short of sickening, yet some out there have been hoping this to come to fruition.

The problem is that this is NOT the only story I've heard about this morning.
I reflect back to February, 2007, when I first started with the Obama campaign. I ran out to visit my aunt -- once a very politically active woman. She is one of my mother's older sisters, now in her mid-eighties, a retired nurse, and suffering from congestive heart failure. I told her about my plans with the Obama campaign. She told me that she had been receiving telephone calls, asking her to participate.
"I'm not getting involved in politics now. I have done my part."
She certainly had. She had always been fanatical about politics, a close friend to Huey Newton, worked with Ron Dellums, heavily involved in the Civil Rights Movement, marched with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., visited the Clintons at the White House, and now . . .
"Now, I'm tired." is what she said. But, as far as Senator Obama . . .
"I hope he doesn't win the nomination."
I was shocked. I asked her why she would say something like that.
"If he wins it, they'll try to kill him. America is not ready to have a Black man as President. Look at what they have as President now."
"Auntie, you're telling me JUST BECAUSE HE IS BLACK?"
And she looked at me, and said,
"Girl, where have you been? YES! Just because he is Black!"
So then, those of you who are "SCARED" of
Barack HUSSEIN Obama --
It would appear that HE is the one who should be "SCARED" of YOU, assuming the story turns out as police expect.
He is not "scared" though. He is a courageous leader.

"The possibility of an assassination plot is the 'direction of the investigation,' according to police sources." This is according to Denver's Channel 7 report.
The FBI is also investigating reports that Gartrell may be connected to a white supremacist group and had made death threats against Sen. Barack Obama

When John Edwards was campaigning he said something to the effect of "If you won't vote for Hillary because she is female, or Barack because he is black, then I don't want your vote either." I think it's time for John McCain to be a man and say it.
We have been taking these baby steps to true equality for years, and it saddens and embarrasses me when things like this point out how far we still have to go.
I read an interesting article about the Lincoln/Douglass debates in Smithsonian magazine yesterday, called Face the Nation" by Fergus M. Bordewich. It was interesting to hear, from the man that we all hail as the man that freed the slaves just what he thought about race.
Lincoln said, "I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of Negroes, nor of them qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people, and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality. And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of and inferior, and I as much as any man an in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race."
I still hope that Lincoln is wrong and that we can live together, thrive and someday get to the point where a person isn't judged by their color, but by who they are.

My HOPE is that HE CAN CHANGE, because he is the same scumbag politician that you Lefto-Fascists always push out in front of you. Obama is just another Communist in a lawyer’s suit, and as with most everything else about him, this was probably staged for publicity too.
Out of 300 million people there will always be a few nut jobs who want to kill anyone of prominence. Fortunately most of them are big talkers like the guys they arrested who one police report said didn't have the brains to pull anything like this off and were just a bunch of noisy meth heads.
But, a few prayers couldn't hurt.
Anti choice-murder the doctor, anti-gay tie 'em to fence and beat them to death. It just never ends.
So keeping a protective focus in our prayers and visualizations is the key to help.

It was reported here that the police had labeled them "knuckleheads" and would have been unable to pose a credible threat.

Whatever the truth, I certainly hope that security around the Senator has been upgraded. As you know, I generally don't comment on American politics feeling it's not my place, but I will say that I think your country needs Obama to make real change, which he is doing whether he becomes President or not.
What the civil rights movement does not need is another matyr.
It is my most sincere wish that he and his family remain safe and politically active.

I don't worry about these three or four morons though. They are exactly that and will never get through the security to pull it off. There have been many attempts on Presidents and Candidates through the years. some that we have heard about and some that were only planned and we didn't hear about because they never got off the ground. Let's keep Michele, the Senator and those two beautiful children in our thoughts and pray that if there is an all-loving God in the heavens he will do all that he can to keep them all safe and under his watchful eye! Let's also keep in our thoughts that those Secret Service agents are the best of the best and most if not all of them will die for this man. Let's hope they do not have to, but let's hope that they will be willing to die for number one their job and number two to protect a man who I believe has truly good intentions for all of us.
I remember years ago when I was a kid growing up in Philadellphie. We had a neighborhood looney toon who at times swore that he was Jesus Christ and would tell us "I am not ready to end this world yet, but when I am, all I have to to is hold my hands to the heavens and it shall be". Well in between him being Jesus it seems that he also took some time to write some threatening letters to both Carter and Reagan. At least he was an equal opportunity Wack job! Every time that either Reagan or Carter were coming to Philly or near by, one or two days before we would see a few black cars escorted by Police Vehicles come into our neighborhood. They would go to his house and out they would take him. He would stay on "Ice" until the president was done with his business in the area. It was very funny but it also made me think. The Secret Service has such a brutal job to do. To us this man was a total wack job who probably wouldn't have hurt a fly. To them he was a threat to the President and they had to take it seriously. Let's hope they continue to do so now and after the election, hopefully when Obama will be president!
It's sad to think that with how far we've come, we still have so far to go!!!

Obama will be in Denver this week to accept the Democratic nomination. The three men - all said to have been high on methamphetamine when arrested - are the subject of an assassination investigation, but so far, authorities say, it appears they had no capacity to carry out any attack on Obama.
A Colorado federal prosecutor, Troy Eid, said the vague racist threats from the men would continue to be investigated. He said he did not know whether Obama had been briefed on the arrests or whether security plans would change for his acceptance speech on Thursday.
Court documents had one man quoting another as speaking of wanting to kill Obama on his inauguration day by using a sniper rifle to shoot him from high ground. The comments amount to the "the racist ramblings of three meth heads", Eid insisted.
The three men were arrested after a truck containing drugs, guns and ammunition was stopped on the outskirts of Denver. The driver was named as Tharin Gartrell. Shawn Adolf, who wore a swastika ring and was wanted on drug charges, was arrested when police came to the hotel where he was staying in a Denver suburb. He jumped from the sixth floor, landing on a flat roof and breaking his ankle. He tried to run but was arrested.
The third man, Nathan Johnson, was arrested at an upmarket hotel in Denver. His statements to police during an eight-hour interview appeared to have raised fears of a threat to Obama. In an interview with a local CBS station while in custody, Johnson accused the other two men of making racist statements about Obama. He said they had spoken about shooting Obama on the day of his speech, saying: "He don't belong in political office or blacks don't belong in political office." Johnson denied being involved in the plot.
Concerns about the safety of Obama, who would be America's first African American president should he win in October, led the US secret service to provide round-the-clock protection from early in his bid.
Some white supremacist groups would like to see Obama killed, according to Mark Potok, an expert in neo-Nazi groups at the Southern Poverty Law Centre in Alabama. Threats against Obama were circulating on the internet, said Potok, whose organisation monitors and opposes hate groups.
He cited a threat posted on the law centre's website in April that read, with a misspelled word: "ATTENTION, IF OBAMA BECOMES PRESEDANT I WILL KILL HIM MYSELF MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT IT."
Potok said white supremacists overwhelmingly believe the Colorado case was a set-up by authorities determined to smash their groups. He based his assertion on information gleaned from neo-Nazi websites

Thank you for the comment. The thing with these fellows -- and I agree with you -- is the difference between ignorance and wickedness.
I don't believe that THEIR hatred stems from wickedness, but rather from a sense of hopelessness (thus ignorance), unlike those I could mention, and therefore enlightenment would help them. But wickedness is quite another thing.
Psalm 38 speaks to the latter (the wicked) -- "The Lord shall laugh at him/her [the wicked]: for He sees his/her day is coming"
I laugh at them as well, especially the ones here on Gather, because they THINK (key word is "think") they are so clever. I know their day is coming; I just want front row, center seats; I am going to have them, too.

Nee, you're right, of course, it's up to all of us to do something, just as it has always been. I believe in God's Will, and be it his will, Obama will be protected. All things laying in darkness will be brought to light. Maybe JFK, RFK, MLK and others were not able to bring it fruition, but it will happen in God's timing, and all truth will come into the light.
There are some people who consider me a religious fanatic. It isn't true. I started my study at age 9, strictly out of curiosity, but that study has led to some fascinating findings.
Here is one, and it relates to what you said. Let me say that what you have said does not shock me one bit, as I already knew it was coming. What does continue to shock me is the accuracy of a book that so many THINK is antiquated:

That one scripture of verse is an article within itself, and I shall not take time to elaborate upon it.
There is one word that I want to focus on -- "sorceries". This portion of the Bible written in koine Greek, and that word translated (I don't know if this software would give the Greek, but it isn't necessary. THIS is close enough:
sorceries -- "pharmakeia far-mak-i'-ah: medication (pharmacy), i.e. (by extension) magic -- sorcery, witchcraft."
Rosa, do you SEE that? Pharmakeia. medication. The nations would be "deceived" by pharmeceuticals or medications or legal drugs.
When I first came upon this, I was resolved to stay away from this craze of all the drugs, drugs, drugs, and I have. It's why I focus on holistic alternatives.
The revelation of John is supposed to be about a time of the last days. Indeed it is. Pharmeceuticals are now advertised on television. We get information about them in the mail. Our doctors are enticed by beautiful young women and men, and treated to lavish lunches and dinners, given free samples of the products to give to US. Doctors -- even mine -- seem to think them the answer to so many woes. We've even started giving them to our children to manage their behavior. 95%. Have we become what Revelation 18:23 has stated? A generation of druggies?
