Things You'll Need:
- Lots of chairs and pillows
- A variety of board games
- Plenty of pencils and pads for drawing and score keeping
- Refreshments
Begin by sending themed invitations to your board game-playing friends and ask them to bring along their favorite games.. Be creative! Invitation templates are available free at www.evite.com . Microsoft Works also has templates, or make your own! It's probably best to keep the number to a dozen players, but the more the merrier!

Set up a large, comfortable, circular area. Set up chairs and/or throw pillows around a coffee table or push together card tables for the games.
Order pizza and have lots of snacks or ask guests to bring along appetizers, dips and chips, etc.,. It's nice to have both alcohol and non-alcoholic drinks. If you choose, you can also make the party BYOB.
My favorite games include Taboo, Outburst, Chatter, Guesstures, Pictionary, and Battle of the Sexes, which are good group choices. Play in teams and switch often so that everyone gets well acquainted. The games will go much faster, too.
Have fun and stay relaxed! It's all for fun. Vote on which games folks want to play next or let the winners choose. You may also want to have an alternate game choice such as Scrabble, cards or checkers for those who prefer a quieter game.
Let the games begin!

And, of course, the kids can spend quality time with their grandparents, cousins, etc.
