Horses of Saratoga

I live just a short distance from Saratoga, New York, which is home to a both a harness track (racing sulkies) and the famous, historic flat track where the jockies actually ride the horses' backs. The town really comes alive from the end of July to the beginning of September when the flat track is open--it is THE place to be!

Horses is the obvious theme of Saratoga in the summer, so I wandered with camera in hand one day to take photos of some. I was in the wrong part of town for the live ones, but here are some others I saw....

Great shots...I recently went to the Saratoga racetrack for the first time with a group of friends. It was a perfect day and we had a wonderful time....even came out ahead in winnings. We were not able, however, to make it into town. I work with a number of advisors who live in that area and tell about all the cultural events in town during the summer. We'll have to go back and spend the day in Saratoga sometime.

I've been to the track for the trotters a trade show was held there) but never for the flat races. The Town itself is beautiful, and those horses outrageous - thanks for the tour.

Thanks for the nice photographs of "all the pretty horses". Never been to the races, but I have been to Saratoga. It's a great walking town. Wish I remembered the name of the Thai restaurant I visited - the food was delicious!
