                         Jackson Hole and the Grand Tetons

Ever wonder about Jackson Hole..How about the Grand Tetons..?

Jackson Hole is the valley name.  Jackson is the town.

You can fly right into Jackson Hole Airport

A first look of the jagged peaks of the Teton Mountains rising abruptly from the valley floor.....

 

For summer fun there is hangliding, canoeing, kayaking, whitewater rafting and guided mountain climbing ....

 

 

At the heart of Jackson is the Town Square, with elk antler arches at it's corners...

 

 

Snow King resort  (that is 6 blocks from the Town Square) with Jackson's Year around Rec center offers an Alpine slide and a scenic chairlift in the summer

In 1990 we spent 2 weeks here on our Honeymoon and someone took our picture on this very spot......This time our 16 year old son took this shot..

The parking lot of Jackson Hole Ski Resort show that there is plenty to do..

We rode the aerial tram to the top ...at 10,450 feet it was a little chilly...

After a nice lunch the clock on the tower said it was time to do some more exploring....

Plenty of opportunities for artists and photographers...and wild life is abundant

OH, did I forget to mention Jenny Lake and Jackson lake?

Brought back wonderful memories. We used to stop at Jackson Hole on our way from Salt Lake City to Yellowstone.

I've never been to this particular neck of the woods. After reading this, I hope to someday.
It's been a few years since I've been to any mountains. Your photos brought back the memories of just how majestic they are.

thx for visiting my first summerpics today....per the larger soccer ball, some people at a park were kicking it around and it caught my eye because of its fun oversize....

Memories! One of my favorite places on earth. I resolved to move to the Rockies when I first saw the Tetons at age 12. Haven't gone East since! Thanks for the share.

I have stood right under that arch! Jackson Hole is one of the most beautiful places on earth. The city of Jackson is pretty touristy but at the other end of the valley is Dubois. Much less of a tourist spot but just as much fun!

Long ago, in 1983, Papa and I made a cross-country trip (one of many, since his folks lived in San Francisco) with 12 year old Will, 8 year old Aaron and 6 month old Zach. Before the trip we had given Will and Aaron copies of National Geographic and told them to plan an itinerary of what they wanted to see....of course they wanted to see Mesa Verde, the Grand Canyon, Glacier National Park, Yellowstone, Yosimite, etc. But all along the way, it really bothered Aaron that Zach didn't make a choice. Then we were in the Grand Tetons and Papa happened to mention that the Gran Tetons was French for Big Tits and Aaron looked at Zach, who was still breastfeeding, and said, "Zach, this is the place for you". For the rest of the trip, no matter where we were, Aaron had to tell people why we went to the Grand Tetons!

Aaron lost his first tooth on a river raft on the Snake. Yes, we have great memories of this National Park.

My ex next door neighbours went to a dude ranch in Jackson Hole one year and ended up building a house there and moving! i see why!

My sister in law went there twice to sky dive & the pictures are awesome. She has travled extensively and recommends Jackson Hole as a must see.

Major memories of my youth. My family vacationed there 4 years in a row (I even met Lawrence Welk there by the lake when I was 13).
