Our Day at Harris Beach State Park, Brookings, Oregon

We recently spent the day at Harris Beach State Park. This park has a no fee, day use park in Brookings, Oregon. We spent time on the beach, at the picnic area and on the hiking trails, taking pictures all the while.

This is a beautiful area with a no-fee day-use area and many beautiful camping spots as well. You can park your motorhome, a travel trailer, put up a tent or rent a yurt. They even have a bicycle travelers area. There are great showers and restrooms throughout the park.  

If you are ever on the southern coast of Oregon I recommend you stop in. I worked at this park for two seasons and it was the best job I have ever had. It was a joy going to work each day.

It is so beautiful that our family goes there regularly. Oregon maintains their beaches so well and the state owns and maintains most of the beachline as parks, so that it can be available to the public. It is breathtaking to just wander along and know that no one can close it up and keep the public from enjoying.

Yes, Janet, they have a terrific campground with as much in the way of hook ups or as little. You can rough camp in a tent or rent a yurt or bring a motorhome.

We go there often. Just not often enough. But ya can't play every single day. I will be posting another essay with views of the beaches down here in Crescent City. Some great scenery down here too.

barbara, you owe it to yourself to take time for yourself once in a while, even if you can't come If you think your life can't do without you, consider this. Not to be morbid, but if you disappeared tomorrow what terrible, drastic, never to-be-fixed thing would happen? I say this, because I had to face the same sort of thing. If you don't take care of yourself you can't take care of others.

Just remember, Harris Beach is ferret friendly. ;o)

Oh Elsie, we should trade visits! I have never the east coast and always wanted to. My family comes from the northeast, Maine, Mass, NH, and other of the small states. We could come see you and then you could come and visit us.

We just bought a lovely 27' travel trailer and taking her on her maiden voyage up to Prineville and Madres area for some rockhounding. So you would have your own place, already furnished, etc. You think about it. It's here for company, waiting for a warm body.
Heck we could even furnish a new laptop tgo keep in touch with gather and your family.

Anyhow, anytime, Elsie, you are more than welcome to come out to see Bill and me and the great Pacific ocean. Huggggs. wanda

Sue, do your ex-folks still live in Brookings? Iwonder if I know them, I lived there for almost 10 years now and I only live down the road about 30 miles. My son and his family still live in Brookings and my heart is there. But Bill's job is here and his house is here too.

Loved ht epics and I live only about an hour and a half from here. It is truly breathtaking and is a must on the list of places where to go before you die. Simply gorgeous. I love it!!!
