AFTER THE WOMEN'S ART FESTIVAL SUMMER 2008 (Show and Tell)

I did an article last week in preparation for the Kingston Festival. The festival was last Sunday. The weather was perfect, the crowds were there and I did quite well at the show and enjoyed it too.



Some of you have asked me to show you what I do.



I paint on Slate



I sell in gift stores and wineries in the areas where I live.



In the stores I sell a product that is very popular and can be copied so I don't put it on the Internet.


My stores protect me and have a no camera rule so if someone really want to copy my ideas, they have to buy a few to do it.



Because I paint on slate, it's not as easy to copy as I indicate because one would need to know where to buy slate at a reasonable price and would need a slate cutter too to get the desired sizes.



Still it makes me nervous to post my work on Cyberspace.




For the shows my stock is a bit different than the stock I put in the stores.




I will be glad to share some of the pieces I take to the shows. All are original designs and one of a kind pieces. Most have been sold.



My style is primitive (usually) and I lean towards Folk Art.



I paint with acrylic paint and use a finish so the pieces can be hung outside with out
fading.



I Love bright colors.






It's funny - I feel like a kid in "Show and Tell".



I paint on new and old slate. The old slate has more character and I find it when old buildings are being torn down, or roofs replaced.
