Do you remember being a kid in elementary school and having to write the proverbial "What I Did On My Summer Vacation" essay? Well this one is a little bit different. I'm writing about what I didn't do instead.
I know it doesn't technically end for a few more weeks, but for me the summer's end is signified by the Labor Day Weekend, and I'm just not ready for it this year. Okay, I'll admit it.....I'm never ready for summer to end. But this summer I had so many great plans for fun and relaxation; and they never came to fruition.
I didn't go to the beach. I live just minutes from some beautiful beaches, but I never went to one. Not. Even. Once.
I didn't sit outside and enjoy dinner al fresco.
I didn't ride my bike.
I didn't go to the fair.
I didn't visit the Farmer's Market.
I didn't play badminton (I'm pretty good, too. My late grandmother was my coach!!)
I didn't walk several days a week to improve my health like I said I was going to.
I didn't go on a picnic.
I didn't eat fried dough at Hampton Beach. (Of course I didn't, because I never WENT to the beach!!)
There. I guess I'm done. It would be an awful lot to accomplish if I set out to turn all these "didn'ts" into "dids" before Labor Day.
What did you do on your summer vacation????

We did go to the fair. Several times. The fair consumed a full month of our summer between the getting ready for it and the attending it.
We did go to park day every week that the weather permitted us to.
We did go to Firefall and the big family reunion.
My sister did have a big wedding and we all had our parts in it.
I did manage to take the kids swimming a few times.
My biggest regret is not getting a garden planted this summer.
LOL
I do believe that all of the things on your list are do-able between now and Labor Day, Kimberly. Just do one or two or all of them in one day, and voila! You'll have done them all this summer after all. ;)
I did sit out on my balcony, looking at my flowers and reading my book almost everyday.
I did go to a cookout.
I did watch the kids play and swim in the complex pool almost everyday.
I did sit by the river and watch the boats in an out of the marina.
I did just wear myself out. I'm going for a nap now.

You copied my list!
Other than re-landscaping the area around our huge 4-tier fountain and enlarging the front 200 ft. long gardens out front, I didn't do much more than garden and have tea parties with the grandkids all summer.
We had such a rainy summer in NH...I spent most of it cleaning out my garage, my attic, my husband's den...then organizing and sorting and good willing and dumping...then painting and re ordering...well, not much fun... but the house feels better and I am back to work tomorrow after this summer "off". I am bummed, too, Kimberly.
I went to Gloucester for three days to lick my wounds...and the lobster butter off my fingers. It's not too late to suck in the sea breeze, eat some fried something , gorge on the fabulous tomatoes and corn that's out, and look to the gorgeous fall that we are about to experience here in New England...
But I am sighing right along with you....
We did get to go to the beach though, and we are going to the fair this weekend. Wanted to take them to Six flags, but we didnt get that it....maybe for their Halloween festival.
