Chattanooga is home to the Chattanooga Choo Choo which is located at a Holiday Inn downtown, but doesn't travel anywhere. When I was a child, we came to Chattanooga and stayed the night in one of the train cars. They also have a dining car.

This building is a model train museum located up the street from the railroad museum.

The Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum is also located in Chattanooga where you can take different train rides. Outside the museum there are different trains on display. I have taken the kids twice to ride a train. Once, for a train ride to see the Christmas lights and to visit Santa Claus at the North Pole when they were younger.

My husband and I stayed a weekend at that Holiday Inn and had such a good time. We rode the electric bus and toured downtown. We were amazed at how lovely the garden was and actually, at that time, there was a train that would go along the track a little ways. Not much, but you got the idea of what it was like to ride a train. I wouldn't mind going back and doing it all over again.
