I took a lunch/shopping/unwind break after attending a live session of Meet the Blogger, where Michael Moore promoted his new book Mike's Election Guide '08 by talking about the election.
As always, Michael Moore was invigorating, entertaining, and above all, wise. I especially appreciated his comments about the importance of humor. I believe humor helps us get through the tough times, is a terrific tool to use when relaying constant bad news, and was pleased to hear him say the same.
I don't know how many people were present at this get-together, but they polled us and this is how we voted for our favorite VP choice:
None of the above: 32%
Several people asked why the poll did not include Hillary Clinton. No one answered. I believe Meet the Blogger designed this poll, and the omission of Hillary Clinton's name was their decision, not Michael Moore's.
Mike said, if he had Barack Obama's ear, this would be his advice:
- Stay connected to your grassroots people
- Use your sense of humor
- Address McCain's use of his P.O.W. experience as a response to any question or controversy (including not knowing how many houses he owns)
- Don't listen to the Democratic Party
- Run from the base and stop leaning to the right because nobody wants Republican lite
I agree. On every point.
