On the 16th of August, Cumberland Falls was scheduled to have a moonbow, so we were determined to get there and see it! I didn't get any pictures of the moonbow itself (it wasn't even fully formed at around 12:30 when we decided it was time to leave), but I did get some nice night shots of different things.
This is the sequence of the rising moon. We had to wait impatiently for probably 3 hours or so for the moon to rise enough.

The moon pictures came out quite light because I couldn't find exactly the right exposure for it that would allow me to take the picture right.

And here's the view in the other direction. You may not realize, but you are looking at the big dipper here.

And just so you can appreciate how utterly slow the shutter speed was to capture these pictures, here's a picture of all the people that were gathered around me and the "ghost man" in front moved through the picture as it was being taken.

This is the view of the upper river that feeds into the falls:

And these are pictures of the upper falls.

And this is the view of the falls from the lower deck. We came down here right around the time the moonbow was starting to be seen.

This is the only real picture of the moonbow I got, and even that's a partial. I couldn't see anything on my camera until I took the picture. It's in the bottom right hand corner.

And I just totally missed the moonbow altogether on this next one, but it was a nice shot of the ricks just to the left of the moonbow. :D

Kjersti: Aww...that's really a bummer. It was definitely worth the long drive with my family. :) Even if we didn't get to fully see it. we'll probably make another trip back down next summer.
