After tracking the storm for about a week, and after all the speculation and worry about how bad the storm would get, and trying to figure out what we needed to do to prepare, Fay finally hit town here in Middleburg, Florida yesterday. Fay had been projected to get here on Wedneday, so she was late, and predictions at first had her coming up the middle of the state, heading straight for us with hurricane force winds. That changed..multiple times.. and by the time she arrived here, Fay was nothing more than lots and lots of rain and a little gusty wind. Pretty much your average, every day storm aound here! I thinik Jacksonville got hit a little worse than we did out here, and a lot of people were/are without power.. probably mostly due to downed trees and power lines, etc. We lost power for a few hours last night, and had a few minutes throughout the night of power going off and on, but so far we're doing okay here today. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the worst is over and we won't have any more trouble from this storm! The biggest complication caused by Fay is she screwed up my birthday celebration! My older brother, his wife, and my niece were in SC on vacation and had decided to head down this way to celebrate my birthday with us, since they were so close.. then my other brother, Rick, and his wife and daughter decided, when they heard John was coming, that they would drive up with Casey, to be here too! John and Sue haven't seen the baby yet. I was happy they were coming, but now they've decided it's better not to try to drive down this way with the storm, and Rick decided it's not safe to drive all the way up here from Orlando, especially with the baby. soooo.. my birthday will just be the family that lives here in Jax..and I'm not sure when we'll be getting together for it..maybe not until Sunday or Monday now..or maybe next week.. because we're not sure what's gonna happen with this storm.. so F-U FAY! lol
I went out in the yard yesterday and shot a few pictures.. but they're not very exciting, since you can't really see the wind gusting and stuff like that in pictures.. but I took some anyway and figured I'd post them for the summerpics promo.

The last time I was in Florida was one August, late 90s. We stayed in St. Augustine. No storms, but it was cold, cloudy, and drizzly the whole time. One morning, we scoped out the weather map and figured if we drove to the Kennedy Space Center, we'd see sun. That turned out to be accurate, and a very pleasant day. We stopped at a beach on the way back north. I want to say Jupiter Beach, but we were winging it-- I really don't remember.
Nice photos!
