Good morning, challengers!
Here is my first prompt for you: write a short story inspired by the song Seether - Rise Above This.
I am aware that not everyone's music tastes might match mine, so just to make sure I don't offend anyone by "forcing" them to listen to something they might find disturbing, I am placing the lyrics below:
"Take the light, undarken everything around me
Call the clouds and listen closely I'm lost without you
Call your name every day when I feel so helpless
I've fallen down but I'll rise above this, rise above this
Hate the mind, regrets are better left unspoken
For all we know, this void will grow
And everything's in vain, distressing you though it leaves me open
Feels so right, but I'll end this all before it gets me
Call your name every day when I feel so helpless
I've fallen down but I'll rise above this, rise above this
Call your name every day when I seem so helpless
I've fallen down, and I'll rise above this, rise above this doubt
I'll mend myself before it gets me
(I'll mend myself before it gets me)
I'll mend myself before it gets me
(I'll mend myself before it gets me)
Call your name every day when I feel so helpless
I've fallen down but I'll rise above this, rise above this
Forty eight ways to say that I'm feelin' helpless
I'm Falling down, falling down, but I'll rise above this, rise above this,
Rise above this, rise above this doubt"
For the others unafraid of letting their ears tickled by a bit of aternative rock, check out their official video to see what it's all about.
Guidelines:
- short story, 500 words limit
- one post per member, add CHALLENGE in the post title
- all other posts are automatically accepted as NON-CHALLENGE, as well as all those that have the words NON-CHALLENGE specified in the title
- tag it appropriately if it contains mature content
- try to spell check it well before posting it. All posts are manually aproved and will take some time to have it accepted again once you re-edit it.
- publish your work by Thursday, informing email will be sent to group members in due time.
- just a note: since this is the very first post, I will be selecting the three winners for this week. From there on, the gold medal winner will choose next week's three winners.
Good luck and have a great time!

Wellcome aboard! :)

Actually, posting the lyrics is a good idea for the simple fact that some of us are on dial-up (not willingly, I assure you) and can't get videos to play.
And thanks for letting me know about the dial-up problem, Heather, that'll remind me to always post the lyrics.
Welcome and have a great time!

p.s. Love Seether!
And welcome aboard!
