One place my daughter really wanted to go when we traveled up to Michigan was Greenfield Village and Henry Ford Museum. My parents have passes that get us in, so away we went one morning....my parents, me, my brother, and 4 of the kids. Pher was at camp as a camp counselor at this time.
When you first walk in the museum, there is the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile.
Everyone loves the Wienermobile, especially Angela.
There are all kinds of old cars and even Presidential Limos....

Bailey and Everett would gladly pose for me.

Yes, I just ~had~ to have a photo of Bill Elliott's #9 Nascar....LOL. You can see that there are lots and lots of cars at the museum...after all it is the Henry FORD Museum.

One of the coolest exhibits is the Dymaxion House. The visionary architecture of R. Buckminster Fuller (you know...the Bucky ball guy) designed this "house of the future" out of airplane parts for use after WWII. This extraordinary dwelling was designed to be the strongest, lightest and most cost-effective housing ever built. Restored to its original 1946 condition, it's the only remaining prototype in the world. It is very cool.

Everett will pose for me anytime, anywhere....and in front of the Dymaxion house.
The special exhibit at the Henry Ford Museum is Chocolate: The Exhibition. I just LOVE chocolate, so this was a must see for us.

Everett is looking through a special viewer that shows the ground and interesting things about the cocoa tree, which you can see in front of him.

Before chocolate was a sweet treat, it was a spicy drink of the Mayas. I would have loved to spend more time in this area, but 2 of the kids were rushing through...bet you can't tell which ones...LOL

Everett and Rebecca were not all that interested in this area, so I ended up following them. It's difficult to take photos when you're chasing kids around, especially when they aren't yours.

I would love to have this truck stop by my house. There is an interactive quiz all about chocolate and candy bars. My brother and I, along with Angela, took the quiz. I think we missed a total of 2 questions out of the 50. The lady that gave the video quiz was very impressed. She hadn't seen anyone do that well....but then again, Paul and I love all kinds of chocolate.

In the middle of the atrium area is this big block of cement and the original shovel used to break ground on the museum. That is Thomas A. Edison's signature with the date...from 1926.
And something Anne Marie will find amusing....

This is a birdhouse....a birdhouse advertising Rock City..... You see, Rock City is in Chatanooga, Tennessee. Farmer's barns along I-75 use to be painted like this to advertise Rock City. I couldn't believe there was one of these in the American Life museum area.
There is so much to see at the Henry Ford Museum, but this is a sampling of some of the exhibits. I'll post more photos in part 2...I don't want to overwhelm people...
