Welcome to the Kentucky Horse Farm!

The first thing that greets you is a statue of Secretariat.

Just over the entrance is my favorite painting and quote every. 'Thou shalt fly without wings'. It's a good quote to live by. :)

Before entering the park, and after paying admission, there's this beautiful horse statue that portrays a horse as a perfectly tuned machine. It's really a great piece of work!

We didn't see any horses right away, but we found the ponies. They're available for pony rides for children (but it's expensive, if that's what you decide to do).

Finally, we did see some horses in the pastures. I'm not sure what breeds they were, but this first one looked like a Friesan to me, or at least like it had Friesan blood in it, but I can't be sure. It's hard for me to tell.

This next horse was in the pasture right next to him.

There was a strange marking on him.

These two were having a bit of a love-affair (and yes, both were guys).

And one of them gets frisky and decides to bite the other one's butt. xD

The rest are random pictures of the other horses that were in nearby pastures.

Horses weren't the only animals around, either. This little squirrel was begging for food from the snack bar and chasing scraps that were thrown to him. He allowed people to get pretty close before he scurried away.

And these small birds were hanging out in one of the barns.

We also discovered some really big chairs towards the center of the park. They were kind of random, but still cool.

And the size of these chairs in relation to me as I went to check them out (along with the horses in the pastures behind them!).

There are a lot more pictures that I'll be posting in further essays, so I'll leave you with these random quick fact signs that were posted around the park.

I hope you'll come back for the next photo essays. :D Happy summerpic promotion!
