ACK! I'm sooo sorry! What I DIDN'T realize about the photos I've been posting.

Marianne just pinged me pointed out that most people were sharing their pictures for the summerpics promotion as photo essays to avoid completely overwhelming the threads.  I didn't even think of that!  I apologize to everyone who got run over by my pics today.  When I post tomorrow, I'll group them into photo essays.

Sorry!  In my excitement over getting the pictures posted, I didn't even think to put them into photo essays.   Didn't mean to take over your threads, my friends :)

I havn't really paid much attention to the photo feeds today though because there are so many that by the time I comment on one photo there is another page of pics already been posted to go thru so I just can't keep up

To be honest, I prefer the photos posted individually. I do a bit of both myself depending on if I have a collection of all one type or theme, but I'm ten times more likely to LOOK at individual photos than I am to go into a post to view them.

I perfer them posted as pics, i haven't looked at a single essay, it's easier to click photos and go through them all.
I didn't know, but I only get a couple of pics a day downloaded....that's an idea though I guess.thanks Tabitha

We've all done it. I'm doing some of both, since many people(myself included) like to look at the individual pics as well. Enjoy the promotion!

I think it's a weakness in the system Gather decided to use. I don't use the feeds anyway myself, but every time Gather has a contest or event this happens. Not to mention even recent articles through Explore has run out of pages and articles are falling from view today. That's probably from the increased essays to help the photo feeds, LOL.
People should probably blame Gather rather than members though....?

Hmmm...I didn't notice in the 'rules' of the promotion that the pictures were supposed to be posted in essays. I say too bad. I'm posting them individually and just put up 50 pictures in the past hour alone...individually...which I plan on continuing to do. If you put them in essays, people only comment on the essay; not the separate photos. Most people may be doing it that way...but I am NOT most people. Go ahead and post them however you'd like. Too bad Gather's threads are being overrun. I plan on putting up maybe 1,000 pictures...or more...and they're all going up individually!

The first day I clogged up the feed too :) But yesterday and today I have been doing photo essays
I know how clogged my feeds are and I don't think it's that we are "supposed to" post them in essays but that's what I'm doing. And on those kind enough to try not to clog up my feeds, I'm making an extra effort to comment not just on the photo essay but on the individual photos.

It doesn't make any difference! It's fine to post them either way. I agree, Rob- there weren't rules saying they have to be done in an essay. You get points either way, so post them in the way you feel most comfortable posting them in!

I don't do feeds - I check my outside email and comment that way, and then double check my gather inbox for anything that was missed. It's faster that way.

I do not think that it is a problem. I can choose the feed that I want. And besides I like looking at single photos. I like essays just like the singles the best.

there isn't any need to apologize. Most are doing the photo essay way because you get the 10 points whether anyone clicks to open the pics or not. I did 3 essays today but plan on doing my other pics individually over a mess in an essay that doesn't mean much LOL

No need to apologize..I don't pay any attention to the feeds anyways...I tend to do photo essays because you can tell a story about your pictures...But with posting one by one....when pictres are suimialr people tend to over look them...Post the way you want...I look at both. So no worries here.

Rob said it best. I have been following his theory. If the feeds are overloaded blame Gather not the member. individual photos get more views then the essays do.

I prefer the individual photos, too, and that is how I am posting mine. It is quicker and easier for me, too. I am trying to break them up so that I don't have too many in a row that are the same thing.
