CROOKS AND LIARS

Corsi is the guy who, in 2004, "co-wrote" (with former swiftboater John O'Neill) the diatribe "Unfit For Command" which in part was responsible for spreading all the lies about John Kerry's Vietnam record, a guy who actually wore a uniform and fought as opposed to the AWOL guy who ultimately managed to slither into the White House.

I love the jacket cover for the new "Obama Nation" book. On the top, above Obama's photo, it says in large letters: Jerome R. Corsi, Ph.D. - Ph.D. in what from where I wonder? What university could possibly claim him as their own, a guy responsible for such statements claiming Senators Kerry, Edward M. Kennedy, and president Bill Clinton were all communists, Pope John Paul is senile, all Arabs are "ragheads"...etc, etc.  The guys really has got a way with words, so I can see how the editors at Simon and Schuster (Threshold Editions, one of their subsidiaries) would be charmed by his writing acumen.

In spite of the fact that the statements made in the Kerry book have since been proven untrue, that didn't seem to put up any red flags for this publisher, who seems to value (not surprisingly) big bucks over all else, truth be damned, good writing, forget about it.

Now the Obama book was written for one reason. Corsi  himself states it; "I set out to prevent an Obama presidency from happening." And his publisher has been doing their part to facilitate this by putting him on every talk show that would have him. He has given over 120 interviews in the past two weeks. But all that publicity has come back to bite him in the ass.

It seems that back in 1995, Corsi was posing as an investment banker. He along with a fellow named Mel Rockefeller and a stock broker Brad Amundson, set up a mutual fund to invest in Polish companies. They managed to convince a number of investors to  sink hundreds of thousands of dollars into their fund and then suddenly Corsi seemed to split himself off from his two partners, and their business unraveled.  The group lost over 1.2 million. Several of the investors sued to get back the money they lost. Rockefeller and Amundson had to pay back $250,000 of their remaining assets  based on the court settlement, but a million dollars went missing along with Corsi. It seems to have disappeared into his wife's bank account, under her name, but the original investors were never able to collect.

The FBI investigated but not much came of it. Amundson was pretty bitter about the whole affair, "It ruined my career in the brokerage business, and it was a sad story for a lot of people". Corsi had screwed him royally.

But now we have the crook, Corsi, reinventing himself as a pundit, an author, who claimed he was considering running for political office. GREAT! That's all we need. More crooks and liars from the conservative dung heap running our country. As if they haven't done enough already!
