My kids love visiting my parents up in Michigan, because they take the time to teach the kids different skills. Angela really wants to learn to sew, so my mother is starting to teach her. Angela's first assignment was making a pillow.
She picked out material so she has dog bones on one side of the pillow and dogs on the other side.
My mom had Angela cut and pin the material herself, without help. She did a great job.
Mom then set up the sewing machine on the kitchen table.
My mom did show Angela what she should do...and helped her sew the first side.
Then it was up to Angela to do the other 3 sides. She had to remember to stop that 4th side early, so she could stuff it.
Angela was intent on getting the seam straight...
I wish I had the finished product photo...but Angela took off with her pillow after stuffing it and sewing the hole shut. For some reason Angela thinks I'm after her pillow. I will admit that I tried to get her to make me one. Her answer was "make it yourself mom." Oh well...

I think its great that Angela is wanting to learn how to sew.
That is wonderful. Learning to sew is very important. I love to sew and quilt
