This is my third (and final!) photo essay from the Renaissance Faire. My previous essays included two of the shows we watched (Birds of Prey and Dextre Tripp) and so this photo essay will include all the odds and ends that didn't fit into those two categories. (Well, I'll post this photo essay if Gather ever lets me upload the pictures! haha)
One of the other shows that we always like to catch at the Renaissance Faire is one that takes place on the gigantic "chess board". They should repaint the squares, because it's hard to tell in the photos that they're on a board. It's not really a chess match exactly, but more of a dramatic showing of fun.
This is the "board".

Here's some action...

And some more goings-on...

One of the best things about the faire is all the good food! My lunch that day was a gigantic Turkey Leg. ($7! But sure was filling!)

And a few hours later, I had to have my favorite... the "Dragon Chips"! I'm sure these are so easy to make at home, but they just don't taste the same. Something extra special is added at the Faire. (Oh and believe me, I shared both the leg and the chips with my hubby. There was no way I could have eaten all that food on my own!)

Here's one of the smaller stages where you can see shows. We didn't watch one here this year, but last year my mother and I saw "Two Stoopid Guys" on this stage.

Here's a shot of Rogue's Crossing. They have various signs up for different places at the Faire so you can find your way to the shows, shops, food, etc.

Another show that's fun to watch is their Jousting Spectacular. They do have different versions of it throughout the day. The jousting happens in the area right in front of the big castle.

Here come the horses and riders...

During the show they have different tasks for the characters to complete. In one spot two of the participants toss a flag back and forth while riding from one end to the other.

In another contest they have to catch rings. As they ride the folks on the center bar toss the rings into the air.

The horses are so beautiful. And it's just a fun time watching the jousting and various "games."

As you walk around the Renaissance Faire, there's so much beauty to be seen.

And of course there's so many shops to visit.

They even have games, rides and pony rides for the kiddos.

And you can walk over "Ye Olde Kissing Bridge" with your loved one. I've seen many people stop to kiss and take photos here.

Flavored snow is always a refreshing treat.

There's food of all types, in cute little buildings.

Random chicken shot... don't know why they had a small cage in the middle of nowhere with 2 chicken in it. It was rather funny to see.

And this concludes my trip to the Renaissance Faire this year. I have some more photos, but I don't want to overload the system by posting all at once. Ha-ha. So I just picked what I thought was the best of the bunch.
I do hope everyone enjoyed this trip to the Faire. Thanks for visiting with me!

I've seen jousting tournaments at Warwick Castle and Glamis Castle. They are always such a great spectacle - particularly the ones at Warwick.

Thank you, Christine! They sure are! I almost wish they had them going on year round so I could go any time. haha.
Thanks kindly, Dagmara! It's a fun day! And a yummy day too! hehe.
Thank you very much, Selene!
Thanks, J R B. It was pretty busy, but I've seen it even more crowded than this. It all depends on the time of day and when you go.
I'm jealous, Ishbel! I've never been outside of the Continental USA. :( So I haven't seen such beautiful sights like castles. One day I'd love to travel over that way!
The jousting is what I can't wait to see. And drinking all that grog of course.

One of my favorite things to see at the faire are the fortune tellers' huts. They are so cool! I forgot to get pictures of them this year. I didn't take pics of the joust, either, because my favorite knight wasn't jousting this year. We saw him at the NJ RenFaire, in June, with a cast on his leg, so I guess he wasn't well healed enough to participate in the jousting at NY. He announced the start of the jousting, instead.
If you order your tickets before the faire starts, they're usually Buy 2 at the advance price, get 1 free. It worked out to $13 each this year, for us. If you get yourself on their email list, they usually send an email out around Christmastime, offering them for $10.00 each. (I can just never afford them, then! lol)
I'm dying to go to the Pa RenFaire. It's too far from us for a day trip, but one of these years, we're going to make a weekend of it. I get emails from them every week, during season, announcing the theme, and some of the foods offered that week, and it sounds fantastic! It's definitely on my bucket list!
I must admit that I always walk by the fortune tellers but have never stopped in to have a reading. I want to, but my hubby is always such a bum about it and thinks it's silly. one day I'll do it anyway.
I've never been to the NJ RenFaire. I wish I had known it was going on in June. That's too bad that your favorite knight was injured and couldn't joust. We had an offer way back in the winter to buy one get one free, but we weren't sure if we'd be able to make it. With my husband schedule, it's hard to plan ahead so we didn't want to buy and then not be able to use them. I do have the email list so I get the offers all the time.
I've always wanted to hit the PA one too! It's just quite a distance from me as well. I also get their emails just to see what's going on. ;-) One day I'll get there!
Sounds like fun, John! Your grandson sounds like he's quite a smart kiddo! :) I'm glad you've at least had the chance to experience a Renaissance Faire once.
your photo essays have made me want to go to one of these faires.
I love faires! We try to go every year here in MA.
I love them too! I'm eager for this summer's faire to begin!
Do you dress up? I want to, but hubby is a party pooper.
Same here! I'd love to dress up, but hubby won't.
