MEASURING LIFE

There is a popular saying these days=Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take,but  by the moments that take our breath away.=  I always thought it a nice and cute saying, but I never knew the real meaning until this past Aug 2nd.  You see I had a birthday on the 5th,and of course I wasn't expecting anything spectacular, money is tight all over.  Thought maybe the kids would show up and we would bbq or something.  But on the 2nd, I had one of those take your breath away moments.  My dear sweet loving husband deposited me at a friends house and left taking my only means of transportation with him.  I was not happy to say the least.  A while later, my daughter calls and says, hey have Scott bring you home, I am at your house with hot tired kids and I can't get in.  So, hating to impose on friend Scott, who is taking this all in good stride, I beg a ride home, not like it is far, just about 1 mile in town.  We drive up in the drive way, and I see all the happy birthday banners, and balloons hanging everywhere, even the trash can was festooned.  So, I graciously acknowledged that yes, they had indeed "got" me.  My daughter took me inside and told me that I was to cover my eyes as I had to open the present she got me before it would spoil...hmm, not a pleasant prospect.  I closed my eyes, and when I opened them, I saw 2 of my friends standing in the door.  Et tu friends?  Then I turned and this is where the breathless part comes in....standing there was my little sister, all the way from South Dakota (I live in Mo).  And this is where the  "breathless" comes  in.
