The High Prairie Trailhead is a little over an hour drive from home. And it was a beautiful sight to see so much green this late in the year. A long, wet Spring resulted in a beautiful display of wildflowers.

Just past the trailhead is the boundary of the Badger Creek Wilderness.

This trail is a nice wide trail that climbs slowly from the trailhead to the summit. At the lower end it passes along the edge of High Prairie.

Then it starts into the forest.

This area has very harsh winter weather. And that results in some interesting old, silver, weathered trees.

And even as the trail climbs and goes into the shade of the forest, the wildflowers still flourish.

The trail runs into the Divide Trail as it reaches a ridge.

The Divide Trail is narrower, but still a good trail.

Once on the ridge it is easy to see which side of the ridge gets the brunt of the harsh winter weather!

Off to the left of the trail are some interesting cliffs and rock formations.

I got to the end of the ridge as the sun was starting to sink behind Mount Hood. Just below the tree line is the smoke from the Gnarl Ridge Wildfire.

The sunset was so beautiful, I just had to sit down and enjoy it!

I'm glad I didn't just stay home!
