This is really not a game, my son is going off to college next year and I've started making a list of all the items that he'll need. I really don't want to miss anything, he takes his ACT test on September 13th.
I don't think we'll do the beer hat LOL, thanks everyone. Some of these items I don't have on my list, my husband mentioned stamps but I didn't right it down, thanks Cindy.
a privet room, with a safe to put his lap top in. Something to lock what ever he wants to keep in. My son lost a bunce of cd (music) when he came home for a couple days;. His room mates or friends of his roomates stole his things.
Lots of paper, pens, pencils, a mirror, a bag of hygiene products, towels, wash cloths, an extra jacket, a few tooth brushes, new undies and stuff (you can never have to many if you can't do laundry regularly), a small fire proof safe box (I have one, it's amazing), a few flash drives (he can keep one in the safe thing, and have important stuff on it), stationary to write home, a few rolls of quarters if necessary, detergent for laundry/dishes, some stackable drawer containers, a few quilts, some pillows and cases, a computer chair, maybe a laptop desk, a surge protector (to plug in cell phones, computers ect..) And the list goes on.
Not sure I didn't go to college and my boys aren't quite there yet but I will read some of the ideas in the comments. Their time will be coming sooner than later.
a water boiler-- a nifty contraption that you can buy at target for about $12 that you plug in, pour a bottle of water, and heat up. works wonders for making ramen noodles, hot chocolate, etc.
a gas card so he can visit, but be warned that everyone loves a gas card - free junk food! laptop is a must. the beer hat may sound like a joke, but you should either get him one or have a discussion about the importance of prioritizing work/study and having fun - and be sure to keep up with him and how he is doing more often than just when grades come out.
