1:50 a.m. - Leave house and travel to paper pick-up destination.
2: 15 a.m. - Pick up paper bundles from drop-off van. (We were first in line, and it was first come first serve!)
2:30 a.m. - Start route.
3:30 a.m. - Several small neighborhoods and side streets.
4:30 a.m. - Loooooong stretch of rural neighborhoods, gravel roads, lots of deer in the headlights.
5:30 a.m. - Done! Time to head home!
All together, we had 3 bundles of papers to deliver. The bundles had 57 papers each. It was a weekday, so they were pretty skinny papers. I started getting really tired around 4 a.m., but hung in there and handed papers to hubby as he zipped around stuffing the boxes. We have to look for blue dots on the paper boxes that are reflective. I kept yelling out, BLUE BLUE BLUE! He was happy that I was with him. It made the paper route seem more fun and take less time doing it together. We drank coffee, ate granola bars and sunflower seeds, and jammed to some great tunes. All in all, I think the paper route is a big pain in the ass, but fun to do if you are in a pinch and need some extra cash... especially if you are a night owl! I have to do a route all alone next Sunday night, so I'm a bit nervous about that. Hubby will be in New Jersey visiting with his kids. So, he's going to make a voice recording on my digital recorder taking me through the entire route to listen to while I'm doing it all alone. I think I'm going to take my friend Jason with me, just so I don't have to be all alone and scared out in the boondocks.
I threw my first paper last night! I'm a paper girl!

Good luck on your route on Sunday.
supposedly, there is a ghost story on our paper route. it's out in the boondocks, and some of the delivery people CLAIM they have seen a lady running in a certain deserted area of a road and that she only had half of a body... oooooooooooooooooooooooh whoooooooooooooooooooooo! lol! we have yet to see her.
thanks for the comments, everyone!
