August 18, 2008 10:16 AM EDT (Updated: August 19, 2008 10:18 AM EDT)
views: 708 | rating: 10/10 (42 votes) | comments: 134

On a cold rainy day, who can resist curling up on the couch with a good book and a hot beverage?

Gather is giving away free coupons of COFFEE-MATE that can be used towards purchasing any liquid powder or creamer product. We're looking for ten members to volunteer to test one of these products while reading a book. Those members will then come back to Gather to write a review about the book and their experience trying COFFEE-MATE.

For a chance to receive two COFFEE-MATE coupons to write a book and product review, tell us your all time favorite book in the comment field below. Comments must be received by Sunday, August 24th. Gather will randomly select ten members to receive coupons.

My all-time favorite bookis Morgan's Run by Colleen McCullough - wonderful book!
I've taken my gather name from the main character in the book, Richard, whom when he was in jail, people took to calling him Richardmylove.

I love anything by Harlen Coben. I guess I'll pick "Deal Breaker" as it's the first novel "starring" Myron Bolitor. He makes me laugh out loud, and I'm always intrigued by the mystery involved as well. Harlen, if you're out there, don't get rid of Myron! I BIG PUFFY HEART him!

My favourite is almost any book I'm reading at the moment. My favourite "lose oneself for an evening" would be shared between Marion Zimmer-Bradley's "The Mists of Avalon" or George MacDonald's "Phantastes". The favourite for centering on what is important is CS Lewis's "Till We Have Faces" or Joy Davidman Gresham's (Lewis's wife) Smoke on the Mountain: An Interpretation of the Ten Commandments in Terms of Today.

Wow, it's hard to choose a favrotie book. I enjoy reading and it's something that we encourage and do often in our house. Even though I'm adult my favorite book of all time has to be The Berenstain Bears, Inside, Outside, Upside Down.

The reason being that I remember as a child my dad reading that book to me every chance I got! He would read it to me as many times as I wanted. And now, I read it to my children!

I have many favorites, but my absolute favorite is My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult. It's a very well written in a way that makes you sympathize with every point of view. It switches points of view from person to person, so you know where everyone comes from, and what they are thinking of.

Narrow it down to one favorite? That's just evil to even make me do that! haha. ;-)

I'll be good and narrow it to five or so... They are:

Dracula by Bram Stoker, Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell, The Fiery Cross by Diana Gabaldon, The Firebrand by Marion Zimmer Bradley and Little Women by Louisa May Alcott.

It is difficult to choose just one, but I guess that it would have to be "A Wrinkle in Time" by Madeleine L'Engle. I first read it about two decades ago, and I still hold an incredible fondness for that timeless classic.

My most favorite book of all time is "How Far to Bethlehem" by Norah Loft. I must have read it at least a dozen times at different times in my life and can always lose myself in this very real-life sounding version of this timeless story.

Not necessary to count this in the contest as I would not use the coupons....just wanted to share my favorite book.

My all time favorite book is "Death Comes for the Archbishop" by Willa Cather. Her ability to firmly plant the reader in the moment is truly exceptional. As a rule I do not re-read books but I have made an exception for this one many times through out the years.

(I stalked Sonia here - I will have to look up that book as I am always on the look out for good ones.)

It is really hard to choose a favorite book because I tend to have different favorites depending on the season.

In summer, my all time favorite and yes I read this book every summer is Guide Me To Eternity. It is written by Christine Tuttle Monsen. This book makes me cry everytime I read it. It just gets better and better each summer.

One of my favorite books of all time is The Grand Rogue by Frances Priddy. I found a copy of it at a thrift store about 30 years ago when I was a kid and I still have it today. I re-read it about every other year or so and in fact, it's about time to re-read it again! It is, of course, about a horse, a very special horse and a girl and a boy. It's just a really great book!

It's difficult to choose one, but I guess I've read Rebecca by Daphne DuMaurier more times than I've read any other book. I haven't read it in years though. Funny Connie mentions that she read hers every summer, and I read Rebecca every summer from my 12th through my 15th. It so impressed me that I went through a short phase after my first reading where I wanted people to call me Rebecca, and I started to script my name with a big sweeping S like Rebecca's R, and it's still part of my signature today because of that book.
Dead as she was, her influence and essence lived on to haunt.

I don't have much time to read since I have 3 kids, a part time photography business and lots of things I do online... but I do like to read! I'm also a big coffee fan and always use creamer in my Senseo coffee.

I guess my all time favorite book would be 'The Long Walk' by Stephen King, written under his pseudonym "Richard Bachman". It centers around the contestants of very strange walking contest and it has always stuck in my mind.

Wow how can I pick 1 favorite book? I have so many...I sit down w/ a cup o' joe and read.
Okay...let me think. "Gil's All Fright Diner" by A. Lee Martinez was pretty funny, "The Stand" by Stephen King was an epic (took a couple pots of coffee to get through that one), I really like the "Rabbit" books by John Updike...and the "Foundation" books by Isaac Asimov. I can't pick just one....I'm gonna go get another cup o' joe with some french vanilla creamer and maybe after calming down I'll try to come up with one. or not.

Got be "Clan of the Cave Bear", I know it is older, but I love the "Survivalist" in the Clan, and of course, the woman lead. Jean Aurel did a fabulous job. It is a kingdom, male dominated, initially, with a true break through by a woman, to be accepted as an equal, with several twists. It is a love story, about family, courage, strength, and acceptance of the hardest of ways. This book, and one of the new Italian Series on a rainy day, pure heaven. Ellen B

my favorite book of all time is Alice in Wonderland through the looking glass mirror. It tells about a girl that dose not want to take her lessons seriously. As she falls into a daydream, she follows a white rabbit through a hole and winds up in Wonderland. Where cards, candle stickes, walruses, and other things teach her valuable lessons about staying attention in school. Alice gets smaller and bigger by eatting mushrooms, and cakes. Some same these are refrences to taking drugs. I really have no idea I just think they are part of the lesson she has to learn. Any rate this book is a wonderful book to pick up and read at any age, or you can just read to your child. Any rate in all my favorite book hands down is Alice in Wonderland through the looking glass mirror.

An older book I really love is Watership Down. The protagonists are rabbits. It is a tale of overcoming injustice and shows that if we all join together, we can do anythingj.

Some of my favorite books are the Joshua series by Joseph Girzone. Why?

Well, from the inside flap of Joshua: A Parable for Today:

Joseph Girzone wrote his parable in 1983 and published it himself with neither accompanying fanfare nor expectation of the extraordinary effect it would have on people around the world. With only word-of-mouth for advertising, and by virtue of its siniple message of love, Joshua became an international force of spiritual strength. After its modest beginnings, Joshua and its sequels have millions of readers around the world and continue to bring hope and peace to all who seek nourishment.

That's why. :-)

My favorite book of all time is "The Once and Future King" by T. H. White. It is actually a compilation of a trilogy of books about King Arthur, his lovely queen, Lancelot, Mordred, Merlin, and all the other vivid and dramatic characters of Arthur's story. I have read many books about the Arthurian legends, but none come close to T. H. White's version for humor, romance, intrigue, and sheer, sweeping epic drama.

I think I would have to say "Lonesome Dove" by Larry McMurtry, but "Centennial" by James Mitchner is right up there with it. "Pillars of the Earth" is another that sticks out as an all-time favorite.
For about 20 years I kept a list of all the books I read and there are 1,840 books listed.
Wilbur Smith is one of my all time favorites. He writes about Africa
In westerns I like books by Mike Blakely, Ralph Compton, Ivan Doig, and Win Blivins and more.
I love dearly everything written by Catherine Cookson. Maeve Binchy, Anne Tyler, Miss Pym,
Nelson Demille is one of my favorite authors - especially his book, "Up Country" about the Vietnam War.
I rated "Standing In the Rainbow', by Fannie Flagg as very very good.
"Sick Puppy" and "Skinny Dip" by Cark Hiaason were on the list for the funniest, but I also like "Cry Me a River" by T. R. Pearson.
"The Poisonwood Bible" is high on my altime best liked books also "That Old Ace in the Hole" by Anne Proulx and "China Boy" by Gus Lee is great.
James Alexander Thom's "The Frontiersman" is way up on my list.
"The Theory of Relativity" by Jacquelyn is Mitchard a very very good story of a court struggle for a child

Enough already! I can't decide.

I would say that my favorite books are by C.S. Lewis. Not just the Chronicles of Narnia (which are all VERY good) but even his spiritual books, like Screwtape Letters. I'd love to get the coupons because I am dying to try to new flavor with my coffee...

Ken Follet - Pillars of the Earth

the author has such a keen sense of Architechture and can draw you into his book and take you away to Gothic Church's , Forts, old bourgh dwellings and make you a part of the story. All of his writings have touched me that way.

I would love to have some coupons for CoffeeMate Creamers to use in my favorite TEAS, and my hubby would enjoy them in his coffee too!

thanks

ANY Dean R. Koontz book!! I re-read them all the time, and he has new ones out often enough to keep me happy! The book, the couch, the coffee, and a new flavor of coffeemate!! Wow, a mini-vacation!!

I don't need the coffeemate, I just need to add my two cents. Of COURSE, I don't have a single favorite book... that is soooooooooo hard, but I'm going to list the five books that I'm thinking of at this moment. Tomorrow, it might be another five! Random Walk, Lawrence Block; The Last Juror, John Grisham; The Fountainhead, Ayn Rand; The Red Tent, Anita Diamant; That Was Then This Is Now, SE Hinton. THere are reasons for all of them, but it's hard, because there are so many amazing books that have moved me or entertained me - it's so hard to leave out THe Kite Runner, Khalid Hosseini; Small Town, Lawrence BLock; Lightning, Dean Koontz; Wish You Well, David Baldacci; and lets not forget The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein.

hm.

that was ten, wasn't it?

Mine is First We Have Coffee,Life Lessons From Mama,byMargaret Jensen.
I come from Norwegian heritage so it was really interesting to read this wonderfully written book about Norwegian culture and how most Norwegian women did things.
I also learned some Norwegian words.

Please keep the plastic creamer, I can't stand the stuff.

My fave genre is a post-apocalyptic horror/science fiction and my fave book is still
The Stand by Stephen King, which I first read (on a cross country road trip) way before the TV movie came out and ruined it.

...forgot to mention Descent by Jeff Long!

I also JWTS that there are a TON of great books in this comment trail. I too loved Pillars of the Earth, ALL of Stephen King's AND Dean Koontz's books, the Narnia and LotR books.

I wish there were some way I could download all the titles of the books I haven't yet read so I can get em at my local library.

Kylee **is always dancing up storm ** S., I am going to have to CHECK YOU OUT!!!

At last, another Shirley Jackson lover!!!

She jams, doesn't she???
Girl is bad!!!

And yes, "The Lottery" is/was PRIME.

Well, since you mentioned that one, and I guess . . .

Is the Holy Bible disqualified?

That is my all time favorite book.

I was blessed to be able to study it more than anything else in upper division English, as Literature, thanks to a very clever professor; it IS considered Literature, you know. I would not want to write a review on it, though. Well, I guess I could.

2. "The Invisible Man" by Ralph Ellison

3. "Paradise Lost" by John Milton. Again, that would be ONE helluva review. ROFL.
Nooooooooo thanks!

But those are my favorites. Lighter stuff.

4. "End Time Events" by Charles Capps

5. "The Bible Code" by Michael Drosnin

6. any of Stephen Crane's SHORT stories.

and of course,

7. ANYTHING AT ALL BY AGATHA CHRISTIE although I prefer her Miss Marple stories best.

But based on those I have read, I really enjoyed, "To Kill a Mockingbird," by Harper Lee, "India Fan," by Victoria Holt, "Pride and Prejudice," by Jan Austen, "Scarlett," by Alexandra Ripley, "Hot Six," by Janet Evanovich, "Safely Home," by Randy Alcorn and "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," by Douglas Adams.

I am an English teacher so I am a huge book lover! Lately, I am loving Chuck Palahunik's *Fight Club*--I love the author Nick Bantock too, and his *Griffin and Sabine* series. I love *Macbeth* by Shakespeare, *Beowulf*, *Interview with a Vampire* by Anne Rice...I could make an enormous list. I love reading and writing book reviews too.

I would try any flavor of Coffee Mate--I can't have a cup of coffee without it! I <3 Coffee Mate :)

forget just one book, how about a whole series. the one i keep returning to when i am feeling lonely is by Diana Galbadon, The Outlander series. Well that's the first book title anyway, i'm not sure the series has a specific title. there is something about the main characters that just makes you feel as if you are visiting with old friends.

i can't drink coffee with out creamer, and i prefer using Coffee Mate to any other. i love the flavor choices. right now i'm using the Chocolate Caramel flavor at my house and the Dulce de Leche at my boyfriend's place.

I love and read about 6 non-fiction books per month, and I enjoy them all. I would have to say it is one of the last that I read. "The Man That Discovered China" 2008 by Windchester I think. However, the next book will be my best.
