On Saturday I had the pleasure of joining two visiting Mississippi cachers on a cache run. Their goal was 130 caches in 24-hours. They had 63 finds when I left them around 9:30 p.m.
Most of the caches were revists for me, but I did snag 9 new finds while out and about with these guys. Some of the caches we went to are ones I found my first year of geocaching, back in 2004. So it was kind of fun to return to a few of these areas and I was able to get some decent photos from the day too.
These next three photos are from Kermie's Lakeside Retreat Bug Motel geocache.

Prntr1 and TDCell with the cache in hand.
These next few photos are from a cemetery that held two caches that I found in 2004. One was an ammocan in the woods and the other was a virtual cache within the cemetery.

This two person crypt was huge and very elaborate.

Prntr1 finds the ammocan.
We did end up back in the Sandy Springs area for part of the day. So I took the opportunity to snap shots of any Sandy Springs Turtles I came across.

This Dalmation Turtle was located near a cache at a fire hall.

I remember seeing this turtle two years ago when the exhibit was first launched. The cache near this one had pamphlets about the displays when I found it.

Just a closeup of the Turtle.
We did go back to the ARTSS Challenge Cache because there are two placements there. I found a few more artwork pieces that I didn't see when I found this one recently.

In Dunwoody, thee are a lot of caches located in office park areas.

This was the view from one of the cache hides.

And this was the beautiful landscaping I passed on the way to find the geocache.

Lots of funky art pieces could be found outside of this Dunwoody library.

The rose gardens near The Box House geocache provides a few photos as well.

We saw some other neat stuff, but my camera was left in the vehicle. I should have known better. There was a nice sized doe located right near a cache that was placed in a wooded glade. She looked at us for several minutes too before running off. I hate it when I miss photos like that.
When I phoned Prntr1 on Sunday, they had manged to find 99 caches in 24-hours, but had found 34 that morning while working their way back home.
Hope you enjoyed a photo tour of the area surrounding several of our geocache finds from Saturday.

...and I also love cache runs, but 130 is a formidable goal in most areas.
I'm still searching for a cache involving chocolate.
Neat stuff.
I am totally frustrated by being a semi-walking person right now because we've only got to go geocaching twice so far. I took our GPS out of the bag and just sadly held it, wishing...
And so, you went geocaching with a couple of cute guys with 'ssippi accents. You had a pretty good weekend.
Great photo essay Marianne...I've only seen one of the turtles...and a couple of the cows.
I really love the first one of the frog.............
I really liked the turtle!
Have you ever done a 24-hour marathon?
Seriously, congrats for being featured and gather couldn't have pegged you better!
You got some amazing shots in this photo essay. I loved them.
thank you for your comments...
I do something like it, only without a GPS -- it's called "Letterboxing". You print out the directions online and go to a park or where ever it is, and follow the directions to find the box and leave your stamp on the pad that is in the box, and stamp your pad with their stamp. It's cool!

I just have been wanting to thank you for posting so many of your geocaching adventures.
I really had given up last winter but after reading your articles I decided to try it again and geocaching has become a huge favorite thing for me to do. We get out hiking and visit places we've never been and do more as a family outside than we ever have before. So much time spent geocaching is the major reason I haven't been on gather much this summer. Anyway, you inspired me and I want to say a BIG thank you. I love geocaching!
Wish you'd had your camera for the shot that could of been..lol
Loved the sculptures! Very vivid and vibrant color!
Couple years ago they had a special on this type of thing, it was very intresting ! But didn't get how and where all this takes place!! It really sounds like everyone has fun doing it.
Is there a group that teaches people that know nothing about it?
I am so desperate for a good chacing day I can't stand it. Hopefully it will happen over the long holiday weekend!
The feel fun is in them all !!!
