Still, those that entered did a wonderful job, and I was really surprised at how many people had similar ways of approaching it. It was kind of neat.
Anyway, without further ado, the moment you've been waiting for: the winners!

Embracing The Sunset

Explanation: I love the silhouette. It really implies that the person photographed here could, in all essence, be any person in the world, since you can't see their face. The lighting is really beautiful, too. I love how the person has their arms open, as if embracing the nature around them and welcoming the "commonplace" into their life. It's a really unique angle to approach it from. I also like how it is a scene that is, again, very "commonplace" (looks like a beach scene to me), but is caught in a good lighting and good angle, so that it makes it look very majestic and extraordinary, while not necessarily being either.
Second Place:
Bhawana BUSY BUZZY B. Newton

Explanation: Not only is this a wonderful example of artwork and a unique perspective, what better portrays such a thing than Newton? While everyone else was looking for fantastical ways to solve the problems of physics and the answers of the universe, Newton did such with the most commonplace of occurrences. A simple apple falling from a tree, rather than some extraordinary equation, led to a great realization. Just goes to show that maybe the answers to our problems lay more in the commonplace than people seem to realize.
Third Place:
Leah A.
Sweet Pea

Explanation: The straw hat is so cute, and it's neat how she thinks something so ordinary is the greatest thing on this green earth (besides cows, obviously). It's funny what babies will find interesting, and it's true that their minds must be great, otherwise how would they find such amazement in intrigue in ways that even we adults have forgotten how to comprehend? Yes, children would rule the world if it wasn't for their short attention spans, I'm sure of it.
So congrats to all the winners! There were so many wonderful entries! The prompt for week 3 will be posted shortly.
