NO! NO! DO NOT BACK UP!!!!

This is what happens when a 2004 GMC Yukon decides to back up at a stop sign.  Into a Dodge Colt with me at the wheel and my adult daughter as a passenger.  We saw the Yukons back-up lights come on, and we started screaming "don't back up"! and I was blowing the horn.  The driver didn't see or hear us.

 I drove it home!!  I love that little car, I get the best gas mileage!  I feel like I got hit by a truck!

I hope you and your daughter are ok. That almost happened to me one time while traveling on business in Indianapolis. The car in front of me thought it could make the left turn before the light changed to red. I just stayed put. The driver realizing it wasn't going to make the turn started to back up to get out of the the intersection but didn't take the car out of reverse. When the light turned green I braced myself waiting to get hit. Luckily the driver realized she was still in reverse and put the car in drive before proceeding.

So sorry about your Colt. Hope you and your daughter are alright! What ever possessed him/her to back up at the stop sign? Yesterday was full moon, I believe, and the drivers were doing really weird things. There was about a 20 car pileup on one street and fender benders all over the place. What a strange day!

I'm glad you are okay and so very sorry you went through such a nervewracking experience. As for filing a claim, (someone commented about that), I understand the variables that go into that. The other driver may not have had insurance. Also, we filed a claim for an accident of this level and saw our insurance rates triple in one year. We switched companies but I'd rather have paid the cost or had the other driver do so (which he'd volunteered to do) than face those soaring premiums. However, in the end I feel people have to follow the law and to make a claim, a police report has to be filed. Sometimes they don't even come to the accident but take it by phone (at least, they did that once for us, not having a spare officer at the time).

Wow, that's a bummer. I hope they fix it for you, and am glad nobody was hurt. I was sitting in my car one day at the market while my wife ran in to pick up some milk, and a person with a big Blazer decided to back into the parking place in front of me instead of just pulling in normal. I sat there watching as they did that to me... helpless feeling. My horn doesn't work, but I was pushing on it anyway in panic when I realized what was about to happen, LOL. I couldn't believe they backed in so fast, let alone go to all the trouble to do it really anyway... they were the slanted kind of slots, and awkward for them to try.

I have been hit twice from behind while stopped into the vehicle in front of me...and watched in the rear view mirror...it is a horrible feeling...as there is no time to do anything...

I am sorry to hear this happened and hope you are both all right. I hope the other fellow pays for it and you get your car fixed.

I thought I was the only one. Three times I have been sitting at a stop sign or red light and had the guy ahead of me back into me. One said he thought he saw a body lying by the road and wanted to check it out. The other two couldn't explain why they did it. I hate dumb drivers!

First off I am glad no one was seriously injured. Hopefully the vehicle is still runnable, I know what its like to be without your wheels. Have you filed a claim yet? Your insurance rates do not always go way up. It depends on a few things, such as the insurance carrier you have and weather you live in a no fault state. Allstate has an accident forgiveness program. Weather that has to do with you being at fault or the other driver I do not recall. Hope all turns out well for you, and again I am glad no one was seriously hurt.

I saw someone drive into someone at mcdonald,, the other day,, then he back up untill manger told him to stop before he hit me,, miss me by inches,,, hope that guy has insurance,,,,,
