"Ummm, these hydrangeas sure smell pretty. That's the thing about my Mistress, she sure loves flowers and bushes. She spends a lot of her time out here weeding and dreaming. Of course I keep her company. She says I'm a good companion and listener. You know she talks to me all the time when she's working in the garden."

"Yup, here I am sittiing...just waiting for my playdate. I wonder what he will be like?"

"I hope I like him. I hope he likes me. Ummmm, I wonder where my Mistress is right now, probably in the front garden weeding."

"Oh, there she is. Trying to get a picture of those flying things by the bee balm."

"She sure does like working in her garden. She says it soothes her soul. I wonder what a soul is?"

"Maybe it's some sort of flower."

"Oh, I hear the girl singing now as she collects the seeds of the cleome.. She thinks she has a great voice and I never let on that she doesn't. She sings about rain and the earth and blackbirds, and stuff like that as she works. She sure is a strange girl...but I'll keep her.

"She has some Russians in her garden...image having another Sage other then the little girl I like so much."

"My Mistress sure loves purple...but then she likes yellow too."

"Oh, my....do I hear cars coming down our road? Could it be my playdate?"

"Come, come....come with me down the pond.....you'll have so much fun...we can go fishin' and swimmin' and do all sorts of things.....right down this path...this is the way to the pond."

"Oh, I'm so elated....Boston is just so exciting...we can't contain ourselves as we talk to one another......"

"Meanwhile, the humans are having their own fun... talking, fishin' and swimming."

"Where's Phyllis and Justin?"

Lena

Lynne

Alex and Diana

Lena, Tuck and Boston

"Diana is teaching everyone how to fish."

That's the thing about the pond, everybody can have fun.

"And when you get cold, you can snuggle up in a towel."

"And then of course, the humans ALWAYS bring treats down the pond to snack on and they always SHARE with their fur friends."

"Boston has great manners just like I do. We have patience that's what we have. We are in this for the long haul. Like the Mistress says "Let the day take care of its self, Tuck, let the Creator write the script". I'm willing to buy that...cause in the end, he knows what's best."

"All good things come in time....even cheese."

"And so we passed the day....laughing and playing...and in the late afternoon my friend went home and as I sat once more on the lawn thinking about the day...all I could think of was the value of warm and loving friendships that will carry you through this world."

Where were you this day?
great pictures
Elizabeth...your life, your joy, your friends, your garden, your home...your Tuck. Ahhhh ...seems so wonderful. Thank you so for sharing!
I right clicked on Tuck in the garden and made the picture of him my desktop background...just for awhile, I'd like to stay there with him.
Looks like both dogs had a great time together.
We live by the water, too. It's wonderful to always be the home where everyone congregates. Water has it's own therapeutic value.
Your comment about the dogs and cheese brought a tear to my eye. I had a dog, years ago, that knew that word. We always had to spell it around him. I'd forgotten about his love of cheese.
Patricia...Tuck loves being on your desktop background...he thinks he's a movie star now!
Ron: Are you saying my dog is funny-looking?
Phyllis: Both you and Jessica did miss a good day. But there's always today!
Tonia: Tuck is a keeper! A definite keeper. He thinks everyone in the world comes to visit him.
Before our house burnt down in 2002, I really had no gardens at all to speak about....just hostas lining the walkway. But after we built the new house I decided we needed light and color and I started with the first gardens in front of the porch...then we put in the stone walls and I had to dress them up a bit...and one thing led to another and now our whole yard is GARDEN! I planted perennials because I thought that would be less work...but that hasn't proven totally correct cause I still have to haul manure, transplant when they get crowded and weed. But I love working in the garden...an activity that gives me the solitude to think and dream....and an activity quite soothing to the soul.
Tuck played hard that day...in and out of the water with Boston and playing grab-ass with each other. What I found incredible, even in their game of chase, they always avoided the gardens and stayed on the walkways and grass. I didn't have any broken flowers. Truly amazing if you had seen them play.
Tuck is a happy-go-lucky kind of fellow. He just loves company.
Magi:
Like you, Tuck loves cheese. We found out Boston does too. Hopefully, some day you'll actually be able to walk "physically" in these gardens.
We have to spell words out too around Tuck....words like WALK, DINNER, SAGE, etc.
I didn't want to do another "Garden Show" and so I came up with this theme. I'm laughing because you saw through my scheme.
what beautiful dogs and humans... Blessings to all...

I just can't believe Tuck is such a fine writer and that his paws can manipulate the keys on a keyboard. He is a wonder!
It looks like everyone had quite a bit of fun.
