I used to write about my day a lot here on Gather... just to ramble about my life as a stay at home mom or my feelings, my kids, things that have happened througout the day -- and I don't know why I stopped, but I did for whatever reason.
So this morning my good friend Becky and her son Matteo came over to my house and brought 5 HUGE bags of Matteo's clothes over for Rylan! That's so exciting, I love new clothes, especially hand me downs and especially since we're being so frugal lately trying to afford our very first home that we hope to purchase within the next few months.
Now the bad news about today (so far) is that my oldest son starts 'Jumpstart Week' at his new middle school on Monday and he was so excited about it because they had 4 really fun field trips he could go on the afternoon following the classes. We got the packet on Monday, selected the field trips he wanted (all 4 of them), wrote the check to pay for all of them & mailed it off the very next day. Some of his friends were going down to the school on Wednesday to get their lockers all set up and they wanted him to go with them... but his locker partner was out of town and we couldn't get in touch with him to make sure that he was still planning to partner with Xenon. Since we had already mailed the packet off with the check to the school because that's what the packet says to do, we didn't see any reason for him to go down to the school to do anything. He has all the way until the 29th to get the lockers set up anyway.
Well I just got a call from the school telling me that ALL the field trips are full because the very first day the doors opened up to the school, kids came in and brought money in that day! Even though the packet said to mail in the check, they allowed the kids to sign up for the field trips anyway. The only thing that is still open is just a field day at the actual school so now he's going to miss out on bowling, a movie and swimming with all his friends!
Why did they even say to mail it in? If I had known we could have just come in to the school that day to sign up and pay for things, I would have just done it then to make sure that he could go. Now I have to tell my son the bad news when I pick him up tomorrow from camping and I feel really bad about it like it's my fault that it all happened.

Now the other thing we have going on tonight is that we're putting an offer on a house we completely fell in love with at 6pm. I'm so nervous and anxious and hope everything goes well for us! This house is absolutely perfect for us and it's bank owned, so that's a positive thing for us. That means that the owners don't have a personal attachment to the home and hopefully we can get it for a lower price. The downside to that is that now we can't ask the seller to pay our 3% down to the AmeriDream program so that gives us one less thing to negotiate about. Anyway, it's a little more than we planned on spending monthly for a house payment, but it's our first home and it's a good choice. We love it and I can't wait to show it off IF we get it!

My youngest son is napping right now so I'm off to do some dishes and look through all the clothes Becky brought me.
Thanks for reading my ramblings.

Good luck on the house. I'm rootin' for ya!
I love getting clothes for the grandkids. My daughter has a friend who has a little girl about 1-2 sizes larger than Zoe. It is great when Jen cleans out her daughter's things.
Have a great night!!!!
So sorry that your son won't get to go on any of those field trips. I would complain. Why should you and he be penalized for following instructions?
I love hand - me - downs!
I would definately see what the school can do since you followed THEIR directions!!
Why in the world doesn't the darn school have field trips that can accommodate everybody?? that sucks!
Love your ramblings too by the way. I ramble quite often.
How long before you know if they accept the offer or not?
Can't wait to meet you in a week!
We placed the offer on the home tonight at 7pm (our realtor was tied up with someone else and needed to reschedule our appointment) and we placed a pretty low offer since the home is bank owned. We are expecting them to counter offer, but have a little room to move around financially so I feel confident that things will go well. I HOPE anyway! The deadline to hear from them is 5pm on Monday, so I'll give you all an update then.
Thanks for all the nice thoughts and encouragement about our house!
I'm still pretty upset about it and feel that it's definitely not a good way to start the school year off, ha. We do have a close friend of the family who works there though so I'm going to call her just to tell her what happened to see if there's any way she can make sure he's one of the first kids called if anyone doesn't make it and spots open up. They do need to do something different next year though and make sure that only a certain amount of kids can sign up in person to make sure that people who followed the rules and actually mailed in the paperwork have chances to go on field trips too.
I know with us, the first time we went through our house, we fell in love. The second time we went through looking at it not as a prospective purchase, but as a place we would be living for many years. We were MUCH more critical in what we looked at, and spent close to 2 hours going around the house, poking at things, checking out how things worked, looking at potential problems, etc.
It was almost a buzz kill with how many small flaws we saw the second time around that we glossed over the first time- BUT, we were also much more aware of what would go into the house in the long run, and knew ahead of time what things might need to be addressed immediately, even before we had an inspection done.
In the end, we still loved that house enough to put an offer in, but we were better prepared for it, I think.
