How to Use Squidoo - For Gather Addicts

Gather is a wonderful site. I know what it means to be a Gather addict. You can tell from my Map To My Gather Articles that I've been here a while.

Unfortunately last year I grew frustrated with some glitches on the site. It was hard to get articles to post right, and worse still, I am on dial-up so every page loaded very slowly. I left in search of other less frustrating things to do. I blogged a while, then discovered the Squidoo site, and better yet, discovered that Squidoo pays cash into my PayPal account for the content I write there.

Squidoo isn't like many sites where you simply post articles. Squidoo uses a collection of modules. Lensmasters, the ones who create Squidoo lenses (pages), get to choose which modules to use and what order to stack them in. It is really fun to put a lens together. For example there are modules to write in plain text, to list links or text, and to spotlight Amazon products that match the content of the lens. You can also include photos and YouTube videos.

Recently I discovered the new Gather site's re-design, and found out that Gather no longer has the problem of slow-loading pages. With that frustration reduced, I joyfully came back to Gather to write articles. I love the friendships I've found through this site. I'm so happy to be back!

My new plan is to continue writing at both Squidoo and Gather. I'm going to link to my Gather articles from my Squidoo lenses with similar topics, and vice versa. The more links you have to your articles, the better it is for your page's SEO. I'm not sure how many Gatherites really think much about SEO (Search Engine Optimization) but if you want people to find your Gather articles through search engines like Google, it is essential. I also suppose you'll earn more Gather points when people are visiting your pages that way, from outside Gather.
