Lion's Triumphant Return - A Love Story

Imagine losing your best friend.

Sounds awful, right?

Well, it happened to my four year old daughter.

Her best friend is a stuffed lion that she's been loving and cuddling since she was an infant. Wherever Sydney goes, Lion goes. As you might imagine, Lion is in pretty rough shape and smells terrible, but she loves him and that's all that really matters.

Earlier this summer, Sydney lost Lion at her grandparent’s house and despite our All-Points-Bulletin search, no one could find him. This time, lion was really gone forever.

Until he was found.

My mother-in-law discovered lion earlier this week smushed under her bed! She told us she found him, but we never told our daughter. The video below is Sydney's reunion with her long, lost, best friend... Lion.

How cute! My son had a stuffed chimp that went with him everywhere....for some reason he had named him Dinky. Dinky was finally discarded when Anthony was 13 when he gave him away along with other childhood memorabilia while cleaing out his closet.

Oh how sweet...my daughter has a stuffed dog, Dino, that I can't imagine her losing...she'd be devistated.

Pam, if you don't already have it, you must get Mo Willems' children's book about this very subject: Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale. I guarantee that both you and Sydney will love it. I love it, and I don't even have kids.

I CAN'T SEE THE VIDEO! That's a bummer. However, I can definitely image the joy and excitement on her face... My younger sister was the same with her baby blanket. It was with her at all times and refused to go anywhere without it. It had gotten so worn out holes broke through, and a bunch of the cotton came out. Still, she loved it regardless. She's 14-years old right now, but her now patched-up blanket has a home in her closet. :D
