UPDATE: This was discovered to be a HOAX. We who are legitimate Bigfoot researchers are incensed at hoaxers who bring negative publicity to our endeavor.
..........
Here's the article I wrote back when I wasn't sure what was actually happening:
..........
I've been researching Bigfoot for several years because I live in an area where Bigfoot sightings are common - the Klamath River Valley in the Siskiyou Mountains. You can learn about Bigfoot sightings in my neighborhood here: Bigfoot Sightings at Squidoo.
Recently two men in Georgia claimed to have found a Bigfoot corpse in the woods. They say they took it home and put it in their freezer.
I used to work with one of the people involved. He came to my town in 2005 to research Bigfoot for the entire summer.
..........
The man in the following video is my neighbor, Bob Schmalzbach, who works with the group involved with this hoax. I always liked Bob, but cannot support the group he works with because the leader of the group seems to be too rash in his judgments. This is the second time he allowed himself to be involved in a nationally promoted hoax!

By this time, its 3pm in California, any word on their conference?
From what I've read on the internet, people are saying that the press conference wasn't any more convincing than any of the other things they've read. Personally I think Tom Biscardi is going about this wrong... as usual promoting himself better than anything. He's like that. If he really wanted to convince the world he'd invite well-known Bigfoot science experts to view the body - such as D. Jeffrey Meldrum of the University of Idaho. Meldrum is THE most credible name in Bigfoot research and Biscardi's name is sort of the opposite as a large portion of Bigfoot researchers don't believe a word he says. It is a long story and not all Biscardi's fault, but he still can't set aside the spotlight long enough to include credible witnesses like Meldrum... I guess. Very sad...
One sample was human and the other was 96 percent from an opossum
Problem is Linda that these guys have already destroyed the credibility of anyone who might actually discover physical evidence of this creature in the future, including themselves.
These two should be ran out of the Country as far as I'm concerned. We would probably be better off without them.
I don't believe the hoaxers can destroy everyone's credibility though. For example there is D. Jeffrey Meldrum who approaches the study of Bigfoot in a scientific manner... and a few others I'd trust to present evidence honestly.
