The Minneapolis downtown farmer's market

Every Thursday there's a farmers market on about six blocks of downtown's Nicollet Mall

 

 

Some of the buses are plug in.  We've had them for awhile now (and I bet we'll be getting more)  You'd think you were in Europe. 

 

 

With all the fruits, vegetables, hand made soaps, flowers, baked goods, honey, and humidity, the whole street smells really good.

 

This was my destination, the downtown library on the far side of the mall from me.  That photo essay will be tomorrow.

Nifty..... our Farmer's Market is just part of a parking lot every Tuesday and um..... Friday I think.... =) Thanks for the peek at the Minneapolis downtown one! =)

Tracy, I get the tofu from the corner Chinese grocery store. The other way is the co-op (but their tofu is more expensive).

Good use of the downtown space.
Really nice for the people who can't grow their own or get to a market that sells fruit and veg.

Peter, you have made me so jealous. Stuck here in E. Texas like I am, there is not a single farmers market around....that I have found. I miss the plentiful ones in Minnesota & actually looked for a small one when I was there 2 weeks ago, but didn't have a way to really cook any of the fresh veggies they had there.
I also miss trolling around downtown. I've enver seen the new library, so I'll be looking forward to your essay on it tomorrow~

Ah, I wish the one here wasn't on Saturdays and wasn't in downtown Marietta...I use to love to go to the one in MIchigan.

There are a couple around here, but none closer than 20 to 30 miles, which sucks with gas prices.
Thankfully I have my own garden, but there is nothing like finding new and different things at a farmer's market.
