Nature always takes her time. Great oaks don't become great overnight. They also lose a lot of leaves, branches and bark in the process of becoming great.

(I choose this quote today as my poor feet hurt so much today!)
I choose to take full advantage of the Weston Hotel while in DC, so this morning I arose at 5: 30 AM to hit the Recreational room when it opened this morning at 6 Am.
I used the balls for about 10 minutes
Then on the walking machines for 5 minutes, then I went to the pool for about a 10 minute swim, then hit the hot tub for 10 minutes and then cooled off with a quick jump in the pool again.
Then I met my hubby in the lobby where there was the lovely promise of a steaming cup of JAVA as there was a Starbucks
just off the lobby. And so I treated myself to a pear and a scone for breakfast with my cup of Joe; then we were off to catch the Metro 3 blocks away and yes we are determined no taxi's for us ,we are walking every chance we get. So then we were off to the National Zoo as I really wanted to visit the Panda Bears.
We arrived at the Zoo ( after walking 4 more blocks from the Metro to the Zoo) just in time for them to open the exhibits and we got to see them bath the elephants and feed the Gorillias and yes I got to see all 3 Panda Bears. They are really beautiful creatures.
After all this walking I was ready for lunch and it was hard to stay focused on healthy when my hubby choose the burger & fries not to do the same; but I perservered and had a salad but I splurged on a LG Sprite in one of those souvineer cups. Then it was off to explore more of the zoo before we had to leave at 1:30 pm.
By this time I realized that I had chosen the wrong shoes as all this walking had done a number on my feet and when we left the zoo I had to stop at a pharmacy and get some bandaids and second skin for my poor feet. Then it was 4 blocks back to the metro and then another 3 back to the hotel to retrieve our suitcases. But The Weston is so into pleasing everyone that they had there usual refreshing glasses of fruit water for walkers or runners as you come into the Hotel.
We bid our goodbyes and headed back to the Metro (3 blocks) and two transfers to get to the Amtrak Station. Then we had to say our goodbyes to our lovely extended weekend and board the Amtrak for 30 th St Station and eventually home.
By this time I was so tired I JUST WANTED TO SLEEP BUT ATE A SALAD FROM THE Cafe car and had 3 bottles of water for the 2 hour train ride home.
I will be posting lots of content along with my journals in the next couple of days like my review of the Weston Hotel, our Zoo & National Mall excursions, our geocaching adventures in DC (yep we got 10 more caches added to our stats) and a review of my first experience with Amtrak.
So now I am off to bed and I leave you with my this thought
"A good laugh and a long sleep are the best cures in the doctor's book."
