"The greatest wealth is health."
-- Virgil

Its a real good thing that I am reviewing Samara O'Shea's Note to Self this month; because I certainly need some pointers in creating this life altering Healthy Living Journal. I am glad she suggested using quotes for inspiration as I will be doing just that. With her book in hand I will endeavour to to record my joouney into Healthy living.
Keeping this Healthy Living Jounal will hopefully set me on a path to lose weight, cut my cholesterol and bring my blood pressure down. My doctor said I've added years to my life! My goals are to have more energy, less stress & a healthy body when I am done. The hardest part of getting healthy for me Is getting started.
Healthy living quote:
"To want to be, that is not enough. To know how to be, that is too little. To want, to know how, to determine to be, that is the way of all successful men. Primary to all of these is self-honesty. You can cheat others, now and then. You can rarely cheat yourself. You can never cheat nature. "

It is a complicated and heady experience, this business of being me, so I must first set some goals.
Goals:
- Since I have high blood pressure,I will be trying to limit my daily salt intake to 1,500 milligrams.
- I plan to learn how to cook healthy and discover the benefits of a Mediterranean diet
- There's a lazy caveman inside my head telling me to keep packing down that fat and to skip a workout. I plan to outsmart him by walking
- Water has long been used to keep athletes healthy so I plan to dive in to this activity while I am relaxing at the Weston this weekend.. My Dr tells me that working out in water is great for building cardiovascular capacity and muscle strength, and it's a great complement to my land activity ( walking)
Honestly, I feel that I haven't made one healthy food choice recently. But I am going to salvage something, for the sake of the point of this entire journal.
Choice Made: I was in the mood for salad at lunch, since it was warm outside, so I made a caeser salad with some fresh Jersey Tomatoes.
Choice Made: Walked my grandaughter in her stroller about 1/2 mile.
Taking control of the things is empowering and necessary. What I EAT and what I do to my body is within my control! I will make a commitment to myself with this journal to eat as healthy as I can, exercise when I can and put myself in the best possible health for my body.

Something I've started doing is T-notes. It's based on the idea of neuroplasticity (layman's terms: the ability to remold your mind and behaviour). I've inserted the link on how to use them ( the whole article on Mind Hygeine is great too). At the top of your T-notes write Healthy Eating or something like that. Once you read the article you will know what I mean.
I started doing these every day and have lost 6lbs so far. way cool
anyway here is the link

Eating right and swimming laps are the best things I do for myself.
your body and mind is a must and

marked difference as goal !!!

I also like that quote. That's a good one to stay motivated with!
Keep up the good work!
