Do any of you watch the show The Greatest American Dog? I have to say that it has become one of the shows I must see. The dogs on the show are so wonderful, and as a dog lover, I can't seem to resist it.
I find the relationships between the dogs and their owners equally interesting. Its amazing how in some cases the dogs seem to take on the personality of their owners.
There is one dog on there called Bella Starlet and the owner is Beth Joy. I have to say that Beth Joy gets on my nerves. The dog is adorable, but Beth Joy treats the dog as if she is a human. She is always dressing her up in little outfits and putting booties on her feet. I don't know. That just doesn't seem right to me. The judges actually agree, because they told her once that dogs need to be able to smell one another and use all of their senses as they were meant to be used...which is impossible if they are covered up in clothing.
My favorite pair on the show is Bill and his dog, Star. They are just as genuine as can be...and do not try and be anything other than what they are. They have such a wonderful bond, it is a joy to watch them and the way they interact with one another. If there is a challenge that seems especially difficult, Bill just chuckles and they do their best. He never seeks to get angry or belittle his dog in any way if Star does not live up to one of the challenges.
If you're a dog lover and haven't caught the show, give it a watch. I think you'll enjoy it.
By the way....how do you feel about putting clothes on dogs? Personally, I think it is okay every once in awhile for a special occasion....(like Halloween). Other than that, I say let them stay the way God made them to be.
