Little Miss Maddy Goes to Lake Charlevoix

Some of you who have kept up with my photo essays in the past might remember the one I wrote about my great niece, Maddy, last year at Christmas time, displaying all of her hilarious and adorable facial expressions, before she was able to talk.  She made funny little sounds then and did a lot of pointing ~ and made many, many faces.

This past July, all of my husband's extended family and I all got to spend time with this precious little girl who is now two years old, as her parents brought her and her older brother, Jonathan, with them to Lake Charlevoix. 

Maddy is just beginning to talk, and is so darn funny and cute when she's learning one of our names or a new word ~ or just experiencing something she's never experienced before ~ like the beach and the water, the joy of throwing sand ("No, no, no Maddy!"), the small waves ("Ooooh, COLD!") caressing her feet.  I think she's gotten used to her Great Aunt Nancy being constantly in her face taking pictures, however, because she's a real natural and doesn't seem to mind it at all!

I hope some of these shots of Miss Maddy in action give you an idea of how endearing she is to all of us, and what a character she can be!

                      "Hey, Everybody, I'm here!  Let the good times begin!"

                              "What's all that blue wet stuff out there?"

                              "I think I feel safer here on Daddy's shoulders!"

                    "On the other hand, Heather's kinda fun to hang out with!"

                                              "Okay, top this for CUTE!"

                 "OWIE!!!  This stupid barrette keeps getting stuck in my hair!"

                              "That's ever so much better... Thanks, cuz!"

"Then there was the time I had five boys chasing after me!  You should've seen THAT!"

   "Oh, Daddy!  You just make me drop dead laughing! You're my favorite boyfriend!"

                                "That's the funniest thing I ever heard!!"

                                      "Aw, go on!  Yer pullin' my leg!!"

                         "Sometimes you people just drive me plum crazy!"

  "Okay, I surrender! Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha....!"

                                          "Giddyup, Heather-Horsey!"

                                           "Ah...back to my happy place..."
