A few nights ago I was carrying in baby stuff when I noticed a slug on the sidewalk. I was amazed as many trips as I had made, I hadn't stepped on him. I carefully finished bringing stuff inside and quickly found my camera. Art has always been something i've loved and I've decided to give photography a try. I admit I'm nothing fancy but I believe that I have a gift for luck, luck being I always get at least one good if not great shot. I am willing to endure a little pain, look a little silly and get dirty to get that good to great shot, this was no different. I had to sit, lay and bend to get these shots, some of them it paid off other's not so much. In any case here they are in all their glory, tell me what you think, I truly do welcome honest feedback. The only way I'll get better is pratice and honest feedback. :-)
I also want to add my biggest hurtle here was it was night, he is little and I only have auto focus. lol :-)

Above is the first photo I took, he was still a little scared of me and the flashing.

This one I like to think of as the introduction, he is saying Hi, how are you? I am just crossing don't mind me.

"Ah yes let me shake your hand, I'll come to you!" I like this one because you can see the veins and the eyes.

This one I love, he's lifted his head to get a better look at me and I got a better shot of him. I got two of these and couldn't be happier with them.

Here I must have been annoying him so he turned to leave and run, I find it amazing how far his eyes stretch out. Looks like it would hurt but I guess not.

Still running from me.

Another "face" shot.

This is when he started to turn and run from me but if you look at his "shoulder" it looks like a chunk is missing.

Hey there!

This i call the what's up face. :-)

Again you can see the "chunk" taken out of his side.

Great full shot of his markings.
And one just for fun - this is a "mistake" photo, i had the flash on and got to close, so the flash washed out the sidewalk. What I do love about this picture, other than my title is, you can see the "black" of his eyes.
So here it is - "The mother ship is landing".

See the eyes? Come on, that soo looks like an alien! :-)
That's all the pictures I have of him that turned out, the only editing I did was cropping. Turns out the photos are so large that when you upload them to Gather you lose a lot of detail, cropping helps counteract that. :-)
Thanks for looking and again, I want your honest feedback! :-)
PS - No slugs were harmed in the making of this essay. After I was done he went on his way back into the grass. I have no problem with slugs and respect the life of all (ok most) creatures. :-)

great shots!
I don't like slugs ,they eat the flowers...
LOL It reminds me of the summer we moved into this house. It is close to many neighbors. I went out one night with a flashlight and picked off the slugs from my plants. I embarrassed our daughters to death. They said "What will the new neighbors think you are doing" LOL
kudos!
And I have to admit, these are the first photos of a slug that I have seen on Gather.
One thing though, I am usually a "live and let the bugs live" but I kill the slugs. They like eating what's in my garden too much :)
