I sell chicken manure. Have goose eggs. New batch of chickens to butcher and fill second freezer. Have diced peppers in freezer, Broccoli chopped up and in freezer. celery chopped in freezer. Green onions and onions in freezer.Carrots sliced in freezer.
I would like to say getting food from the garden but it's just not doing well this year. The kids are enjoying what cherry tomatoes and banana peppers I am pulling off, eating them right away, but the carrots didn't produce, nor did the lettuce. Also, none of the regular size tomato plants are producing, nor are the jalapeno peppers, red bells, or green bells. :(
Sorry your garden isn't doing well this year, Marsha. It's discouraging to put in the work and not see much of a yield. Still, cherry tomotoes and banana peppers are a start.
I'm sitting at a Marriott on Kauai right now and they have chickens running all over the island (including hotel grounds). Its a new, strange, and fun experience.
that's interesting. As for what I do to be self-sufficient - - not much right now due to no space combined with health issues with my husband and myself, but I would like to have a container garden next year.

Let's see.... I do grow some of my own foods, and make my own soil from kitchen scraps. Though not an egg under my cot, it's a start.... ; )
