Books, Books, and the Race for President...as...

In publishing news released today, a new book was announced by Three Rivers Press. The paperback, Change We Can Believe In, will feature speeches and other material from the campaign. All proceeds from the book will go to charity.

Finally, in a strange twist where truth is foreshadowed by fiction, Rielle Hunter, with whom John Edwards had an affair was portrayed as a character in a Jay McInerney book, Story of My Life. It seems she was a party girl on the Manhattan scene during McInerney's partying years. Her behavior "so appalled" McInerney that he felt he had to write about her. In the book, her character is Alison Poole.

It seems unlikely that Obama would pick Edwards now. Rumors have it that he is reconsidering all the VP choices in light of developments in Russia...which means that Sam Nunn is looking better.

Selling a book of campaign speaches in the name of charity? How sleezy can a candidate get? He gets his message out to people to convince them with no opportunity to contradict his prognostigations and people buy it "for cahrity"

What charity the MOR fund or the MOP fund?

Great information! My mom is really using this John Edwards thing to the max. First, she's very upset that Hillary has lost and believes that if he had came out with the truth before, she would have received his votes. Then, and this is the worst part, she's rubbing in her faithful reading of the National Enquirer. My sister and I are always on her case. She even wants us to get it for her. How embarrassing, but what do you do when it's your mom? Now, she's hold this up in a most upsetting "I told you so" manner.

The Edwards story was so disappointing to me, Amanda, but then again, so was the Clinton-Lewinski affair. Why men can't keep their pants zipped up when they're not home is beyond my understanding, particularly when they have so much riding on their actions. They have to know they will be discovered!
